I'm a huge Supergiant fan but frankly the combat isn't great, the story isn't great, and the characters aren't great. Like people shit on Pyre for being too VNy and sort of punishing the player for winning, but the story and characters are cool. Hades makes you play a bad roguelite so you can get a not great story.

total eclipse is good presuming you use it at the correct time and the enemies don't move out of it

time stop, heal, and morph are decent utility that get better as you upgrade

dark form is kinda dogshit that does worse damage than your normal attacks and practically requires full tree investment to be close to really be useful for anything besides invuln stalling

My issue with Hades is that the game gets artificially easier the more you play it. You eventually unlock damage reduction, extra respawns, etc until you finally beat it. It doesn't feel like you improved and earned it.

How to handle Typhons shmup attack? The balls are going haywire and have huge aoe blast zones.
Also does the Zeus interlude happen at 50%? Feels earlier.
I killed typhon only once before, now I am trying it on heat 8 for some unlock and cant seem to get it

I beat my first run in less than 10 attempts iirc
the boons were so fucking boring and run variety was basically non-existant. I went to go upgrade 1 weapon for 1 out 5 upgrade tiers and it would have taken me like a dozen fucking runs to grind all the meta progression shit for it. At that point I realized the game was shallow as fuck and sucked since I felt no incentive to keep grinding with how piss easy and boring the gameplay was.

Its a world where Greek Mythology is literally, tangibly true and people actually interact with the gods, and it would be weird for real gods to only mimic or interact with one random human culture spanning like one percent of the worlds landmass. I take it that everywhere on Earth in Hades is culturally greek, including parts of it where people are black, or asian, so it aligns with the general sensibility for the gods to also arbitrarily look like different ethnicities because they're not just for one region of white people.

I imagine Greece is extra important and central, that mount Olympus is there so the gods are there more often, that all the canonical greek stories happened in greece. But my sense is that people in Hades South America are praying to greek gods.

I first beat both the bosses with the Axe (aspect of Charon). Almost any set of boons will work with it.

I have concluded that Wolf Howl is the best hex in the game and it is worth taking an early Selene reward just for the chance to get or reroll wolf howl with at least +1 path of stars.

Wolf Howl with full upgrades is worth at least 3 other bons of epic rarity.

I try to generally stay to one side of the arena when fighting Typhon so that his projectiles will head to that side, at which point I switch to the other side. His projectiles cover a lot of the arena but not all of it, so if you hang out in the middle you have very little space to avoid damage, but favoring one side creates a bigger pocket on the opposite side.

Also, learning how to better time your dashes for i-frames, or having more i-frames at your disposal by picking a good hex like wolf howl or nightmare form.

it felt that way to me at first, but the more familiar I became with the boons the more opportunities I saw in them. There's no real out and out safe options like Athena, and the cast boons are also a lot less interesting (nothing comparable to the Demeter cast boon in Hades 1, for example) but I think the damage potential is a lot higher due to a greater amount of interactivity between curses and bonuses. Duo boons in Hades 2 can be really crazy in how they interact. Starting out you'll just be trying to survive to the end of the run, but once you get more comfortable you can start trying to craft specific builds.
