It's bit frustrating that you continuously belittle and think so much less of everyone who happens to hold any kind of different opinion on the thing. You just keep repeating insults and it makes me wonder if you will even read anything I say or just call me retard/tranny/nigger/thirdie or whatever else. It reminds me of the usual anti-intellectualism that seems to be very popular recently and something people are proud of. Or worse, thinking they are smart when they ignore any emotion-based descriptions.
Most likely I will be wasting a good chunk of my time only to be insulted but I hope someone else who holds somewhat your opinion can see a differing opinion and consider it.
Here we go. Sorry about ESL writing, I hope it isn't too hard to read.
I think you misunderstand immersion or what people mean with it. The other anon put it simply, but I'll try and give few examples.
You don't necessarily need to be immersed for game to be good or you to like it and you don't always feel immersed when a game is good or you like it. For example many multiplayer games keeps your thoughts about non-game things as well. Or if you are playing multiplayer game with friends, especially local, where you are next to each other and not necessarily "immersed" in a game despite having fun.
Same with things like puzzle games or some more "artistic" and "walking sim" games. Not necessarily good games when looked as what games can be as medium, but still very immersive.
I still can understand your point, especially if you keep encountering "immersion" a lot. But it's bit frustrating if you just refuse to accept it as any kind of term that could be useful for communicating someone's feelings towards a game. Same as saying that "fun is a buzzword"
I'm not sure if I'll even read your reply because I'm kinda tired of people just yelling insults and trying to make the other person feel bad or belittle them etc
Off to grind OSRS, which doesn't immerse me necessarily but is fun
