People like Stardew Valley because it landed at a time when there was not much else in the genre on PC and the Harvest Moon series was basically dead. But there's been tons of Stardew Valley PC clones since that modify and arguably improve upon the formula since then like Coral Island or Sun Haven. But if we're talking actual pure farming sim, then the Farming Simulator series is probably the best of the best. It's all up to taste though; there's things to like or dislike in all of those.

I've played some harvest moon, and the only that has the same charm is the ds one, all of the 3d ones have something that feels terribly off, like they're not okay in some way.
I haven't played a rune factory since those didn't release in my native language when I wanted to play them and, obviously, I wasn't as proficient in English as I'm now.

This is just one anon's hot take, but I enjoy Stardew Valley more because the combat is less of a focus. To me, Rune Factory feels like a mid-tier dungeon crawler with farming and dating tacked on because there's always so much content gated behind progressing the main quest. And I disliked RF4 specifically for many of the main quest events happening based on RNG, meaning you can go years in-game without moving forward if you don't savescum the events. Stardew Valley feels like it revolves around the farming, and dungeon crawling is just one piece of getting shit for the farm.

I haven't played Stardew, I always felt like the dungeon aspect of RF4 was underrated mainly because the abilities are pretty enjoyable to use and there's a lot of flexibility hidden in the movesets that seem clunky at first. That said, the game does have an issue with a lot of rooms being too small combined with not being able to see as big an area as you really want.

Old man what likes fishing mechanics in my vidya here. Roots of Pacha blows Stardew the fuck out of the water in a life sim aspect, but it lacks combat. Sun Haven has fun combat and farming and exploration, and I like the fantasy component, but I just keep bouncing off of it for some reason. Coral Island is just too fucking gay to even open up, even for farming sims. Fields of Mistria is pretty, but pretty god damned boring. I really want to like My Time at Sandrock, but I fucking hate the desert setting and the water mechanic. Some horror farming games are coming out in the future, and I hope at least one of them is interesting.

It's cheese. The entire point of cheese is that it lasts a long time. If it's a dry cheese like cheddar, it can last about a month without refrigeration once you cut into it. Plus, you can usually just cut off the bad parts exposed to air if it starts to go and still eat what's left.

Blood glucose inhibits the absorption of vitamin C, which means the paltry amount in meat, especially after cooking, isn't enough. You can also spray em with fungicides and pesticides like chlorothalonil, captan, and permethrin during different stages to keep critters away.
