How can you be this detached from reality that you believe inferior remakes completely replace the original product to the point you don't even want to sell them for free money anymore?

However, according to a new interview with The Game Business, GOG‘s senior business development manager Marcin Paczynski says Capcom was initially against the idea, and was more interested in getting players to try out the modern remakes of each game.

“Capcom were like, ‘we have all of those remakes. It’s already the superior experience to those games’,” recalled Paczynski, who says he was one of the GOG members who led the project.

“They didn’t really see the value in bringing back the vanilla versions. It took a lot of convincing that there is an audience that has a lot of memories about those games, and would love to experience exactly the same game again. Thankfully, we were able to convince them.”

Every Japanese company is like this and always has been. Except maybe Nintendo, but they're cocksuckers in a million other ways. This is why so many old games don't have source code or assets backed up anywhere. They weren't "lost." The devs just didn't give a shit. 'Canon' in RE isn't real.
In RE 'canon' both Chris's and Jill's route in RE1 happened.
And of course in RE2 both Leon and Claire solve the same puzzles, fight the same monsters, etc.
Everything is canon and nothing is, depending on whatever the next game decides, just don't worry about it.

Game quality aside but apart from modern redesign and QoL stufg then dont remakes use regular TPS perspective while vanilla games use fixed camera angles and entire games are designed around this? Like just this makes those games almost completly different experiences lol. I never played RE titles so thats just my observation from stuff ive seen.

You can, by Yawn, and there are consequences and a cure. Rebecca offers to heal Chris in other cutscenes and the outcome changes if he's below 100% health. Sherry becomes infected in RE2, Jill becomes infected in RE3, and Leon becomes infected in RE4.

I'd rather replay RE4R over RE4 because 4 is super easy. Most of my death in OG were from QTEs.
