I didn't imply it would be better without the party mechanic.
Just that it's actually a pretty superficial part of the game as compared to other things, but when you ask for similar games all you're recommended is games in that narrow sub-genre.
Hypothetically I'd be much more interested in a game with Grimrock 2's world/dungeon design, that plays mostly the same but minus the party mechanic (again, not implying that would be better), than something like Starcrawlers that to me has very little that's good about Grimrock 2.

Now I'm curious whether a game mechanically identical to blobbers but with a different thematic representation than a party would be recognized as such.
