It's a double-edged sword. In one way, we do get a boost of preparation for what skills and tactics we need. But in another way, it's consistently led to the youtubers creating an expectation of what the meta will be. And every cup, people have specifically killed that meta. Because the good players hears about it and focuses on countering it.

I like it because I'm one of those who are using this knowledge to sabotage the meta and win. But it's also getting really frustrating for a lot of other people who keep going for the meta, as you're seeing in threads. That being said, a lot of people are also losing because the fall for the blue spark trap or don't know how parents work. But those people would lose even if they tried to go for the meta picks.

Not really the case for Leo though, without good stamina sparks you're kneecapping your deck with a Stam card. As it stands now you can use speed and power only with 9* Stam if you get lucky and don't run front/pace.

I think one massive struggle is trying to find a good parent to borrow. Blue sparks aren't everything, but you still need a bare minimum of decency to get the stats you want. You're not hitting 1200/900/900 with 6* in stamina across both parents. On the other end, there's only a limited amount of borrow slots for certain parents. For Leo, one example is that most of the best Maruzenskys are already taken, so if you're not in that group of people, you end up having to look for less desirable ones.

So will it ever be possible to play Front without Groundwork Angling memes. Shit's gay, I like variety.

Despite playing like 400 career runs and winning all the cups, I still have terrible parents. I rely almost entirely on guest umas for pink/white sparks. And then my own for blue sparks. But this is also why I say blue sparks are a trap. At least when looking at guest umas.

Of course if you can find multiple guest umas that have the same skills, you'll pick the one that has the highest blue sparks. But I'll take a guest uma that has all the right pink/white sparks, but middling blue sparks, over some uber 9* blue spark, but shit pink/white ones. I can make up some of the blue sparks with my other uma parent on my side.

There definitely needs to be a balance at least. And sometimes, it's more about where the blue is placed more than anything. 7* or 8* doesn't hurt as bad if the 3* is on the main parent. That said, trying to gamble for stats from whites is really obnoxious too. Ura Finale is godlike when it procs, and trying to gamble for that could give you god stats if you get a bunch of them to proc in a row, but it's extremely rare.

if you have an infinite amount of borrows sure, but you only get 3 borrows a day and blue sparks are MUCH more consistent than white sparks. a 5-6 star with 9* URA finale and other good whites is bad because unless you hit the sub 1% chance for the URA spark to proc multiple times, it's just worse than a blue 9* with minimal whites.

It depends on what the cup needs. The first cup you could get away just having Swinging Maestro and all of Gold Ship's latent skills. But the last cup needed Groundwork and 3+ starting skills. Plus more if you could get them. People who got that combo but only has 1100 speed would do better than a maxed out 1200 speed uma but no groundwork + skills. That means it was better to focus on white sparks for that cup.

But also, when making parents for the long run, you want to focus on white skills. So they can pass them on to the children (where you want to focus on pink and blue skills on the child). And a lot of this is just luck. But if you have some amazing 9* blue skill parent, you still have to rely on guest umas for pink/whites.

The requirements are just fucking ridiculous. I'm expected to hit max speed, as much stamina as possible, 700 power, 600 Wit, and groundworks+greens+mid race skills to actually get to front. It's fucking impossible, I don't have the skill points to take all the skills needed, I can't do optional races because I can't even hit the stat requirements WITHOUT doing optional races so I can't get extra skill points. My whole point is it's totally winnable even with freebie units in most cases. Golshi was meta af for Taurus/Gemini and she'll be strong again for Leo. You don't need S. Maru or whatever to win, build a strong late/pace/end etc. You don't need a whale deck either, it just takes some planning and borrowing + some breeding.

But yeah people forget you dont HAVE to sweat every single CM, especially with this accelerated schedule we're on. Just remember you don't have to go crazy for each one and can phone it in if you're not feeling it. That's the right thing to do to preserve your energy/sanity. I just like training up strong umas for the fun of it, I don't care about the rewards

I forgot to do all the races in the second phase so I might have lost my shot at group A but i was getting my ass kicked there anyway so Its fine. In all, complete honesty, I would be way more tempted to spend money on this game if it actually had good value for my dollars. In the old games (specifically Gen III which I did all the breeding), you needed to make like 90-150 eggs to get one good Pokemon. And then go to an NPC who gave you vague hints at what their EVs are. So you'd have to level like 5-15 of them to level 24 or so. Then calculate the IVs. This whole process takes like 10-15 hours. And if you don't get a good 31 IV stat, do it all again.

This game, you have to do a lot of career runs, yes. But they take like 30-40 minutes. And you have at least a 12% chance of getting the skills/stats you want from parents. As well as knowing ahead of time what the sparks are, which makes it infinitely better than old Pokemon.

I would argue it's because the "same combinations" here are better optimized then the ones you come across in the general population. /v/ rooms are often time gonna be a lot tougher, so if you can even do slightly good here you have a chance of winning the real thing. If you get destroyed in the test rooms don't take it too personally and try and figure out where the competitive edge is and where you might be lacking. It's not the end all be all though, just observe what you can from it

You're missing the point. The test rooms end up having more optimized teams/umas than the actual cup once it starts. This is most likely because the people who are going to go into test rooms are the ones who are trying to max out their strategies. While in the actual cup, you get a million random people who are just throwing whatever team they have in. But it is weird that I also consistently see weaker versions of the strong teams as well.
