For a game where the message is that capitalism is evil... Boy, they sure never looked in the mirror even once. Anyone that supports Microsoft in any capacity needs to kill themselves.

It wasn't even that bad, it was just a space version of Idiocracy. It had a distinct enough aesthetic (world and equipment, not characters) that it spawned some failed copycat games. The sequel fucked it up by overdesigning all faction uniforms so much that they ended up looking identical.

>In a galaxy ruled by corporations, the crew of a spaceship which includes a folksy mechanic with insecurities about her femininity and a preacher with a mysterious past, have adventures in a retrofuturist sci-fi western with twangy guitar music playing in the background; they ultimately discover that the bloodthirsty enemies you've been fighting were the result of a botched experiment that the corporations later tried to cover up.

no one seems to realize that obsidian is a dreadfully mediocre company that can only produce 5/10s on a good day
fallout new vegas would be nothing without the underlying gamebryo systems that bethesda made, obsidian made none of the technology in the game and only the coating on top but people put obsidian on a golden pedestal despite having never played any of their games apart from FNV

They were given the source code and all FO3 assets, they had the old documentation of Van Buren too. All they had to do was create a conversion mod, which was doable with a full sized studio that wasn't made up of amateur trooned out modders. And yet people keep endlessly excusing them, that they weren't given enough time, when Sawyer admitted that the project was mismanaged and they wasted weeks to months on stuff like bullet counted reload.

Man if only this message was expounded upon by a hundred sci-fi artists 50 years ago except not shit & reddit

The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch is miles better than this game as far as "corporate espionage in space on company towns" goes and it's one of Dick's weakest novels.

All of the combat was nothing indistinguishable from Skyrim and the reputation system was unbelievably barebones.

>2 factions each want a power cell to fulfill their goals
>manage to get 2 power cells through powergaming
>can only deliver one, forcing me into a faction choice between two equal dickheads who I don't like
I had mild gripes at the sheer railroading at this point, but the next fucking section
>get to space station
>"sir you can leave until you get railroaded"
>try to use my skills to get out of this
>nothing works
>only way out is to kill everyone on the station
>accidentally progress the quest somehow anyway

I'm not trying to compare Avowed with Silksong, that's disingenuous. Let's compare it with Outward, a game that goes on sale for 5$ usually. You would forgive the jank and the bugs, while you would appreciate the good moments way more in a game like Outward. Meanwhile in Avowed your standards are set higher since the game costs 70$. Every bug hurts your pride more, every cheaply written dialogue feels more insulting, every unpolished mechanic makes you regret not refunding it on time.

What?
What "message"?
A bunch of retards are in charge because everyone with half a brain is lost in space due to bad luck/timing/etc. (Though it is kinda dumb that you play as a nobody despite being from the "smart" ship.)
Nobody's dying due to "capitalism" or overbearing bosses (outside of the drugs, but you know) like Reddit r/antiwork says, everyone's dying because you can't grow shit and 99.99% of all food in the solar system is inedible to humans.
Even the "hurr durr, plant need fertilizer me smart" thing isn't even a regular fertilizer issue, it's because Earth plants need the same Earth nutrients as people do, and using people as fertilizer can (temporarily) fuel the gardens for a while.

Her entire existence in the game, her motivations, her plot, her character arc is 100% to be a self-insert for a lesbian writer on the team (no lie), so Parvati's loyalty quest is a game-spanning money sink with the most dialogue all to get her into the pants of a mechanic woman she met literally once for like 5 minutes.
Pretty sure the money spending is optional, but man, you go all across the solar system just collecting shit for her. Her mission has tons of dialogue, tons of options, you travel everywhere, you do a bunch of shit, whereas the loyalty missions for everyone else is just "go here, fight generic mooks, get item, go there, maybe kill a few more random generic mooks, talk for like 2 minutes max, done"
