I ran back to the start of the stage and despawned the mechs. If you run back enough, more mechs don't spawn, and the rocket guys despawn too. I'm pretty sure it works if you run ahead far enough too. You can also just use 360UT with the Lunar and hope for the best.

I expect Ryu to have about 3-4 weapons in total, including the Dragon Sword. I'm curious if the new gauntlets will have some sort of gimmick, especially if they're replacing the Falcon's Talons. The kinda look like they might have a pile bunker mechanism.
For other new weapons, I think I'd want monofilament wire like Walter from Hellsing. It'd be a cool mid-range weapon similar to the kusari-gama. The only issue is they'd need some kind of trick to make sure the wires are visible when you're swinging them around, like some sort of light or particle effect.

on xemu, some of the audio for black is muffled. Cutscenes work fine, but battle noises like slashes or grunts are quiet. How to fix?

Replaying NGB in honor of Itagaki and while waiting for NG4, people tend to talk about how they miss the Zelda'like adventure elements of this game, but I honestly think fans tend to overlook just how well the combat still holds up to this day. It's amazing how much they got right at the first attempt. The gameplay doesn't feel like a "NG2 prototype" at all, instead its got instead own unique feel that not even its own sequels really recaptured. Its due to how NG does combat. It does not lend itself well to patterns that you can learn and beat a boss down to a specific formula. Its so fast pace and twitchy so it shines best when you are in and out of combat encounters very fast. Boss fights are about giving the enemy a big health bar and forcing you to learn its pattern. It kind of goes against NG core combat design.

They would have had to rethink how bosses are done is the thing. They should have felt more like upgraded forms of the regular enemies with just the right amount of sponge to their health. You also should not have faced most in some forced combat arena but more of a dynamic or sudden encounter. Like imagine you are facing ninjas and suddenly the boss ninja joins up and music changes. Maybe you even see a health bar telling you he is the boss of the area and he can chase you down. But he is beaten with more difficulty then regular enemies but still faster than typical boss fights.

Yeah it's understandable for a grown up dude who can't play the same game all the time, I just don't get the appeal of treating it as a business in that way. Each new release being something to get stuck into for all your viewers, then when it's over you say "that was good" or "that was okay I guess" (which means it was dogshit but you don't want the publisher to stop giving you free keys) and then move on. It's why I think Aris has the right idea just playing games he already knows he likes, and sometimes occasionally checking out a new game if it looks interesting.

It's a wee bit late to start marketing the game but I guess better late then never.

Since I'm sure the majority of people don't know, FYI, It actually is possible to play the DLC for NG 2004 again. It requires using Insignia, the fan made replacement for Xbox Live 1.0. Insignia can be set up either on Emulator I've used XEMU, or a real OG Xbox that's been modded.
The DLC requires an Xbox Live connection to start a run, so until recently it was boarder line Lost Media, and now while it requires a bit of set up it's far more accessible than it's ever been for decades.

The Hurricane Packs DLC are most relevant for The Intercept Technique, which is fairly similar in concept to a Royal Guard when you time a block on enemy impact. The move is fairly OP since there isn't much to stop you from just spamming block, and getting an Intercept, which is why it wasn't brought forward to NG Black. Still it's worth checking out to make a playthough of NG1 more novel. Once you make a save with the DLC you can load it without needing an online connection, so keeping one at the first save point is worth considering.

Even without the DLC NG 2004 is worth a playthough even if you've played a bunch of NG Black, in some ways NG 2004 has it's own tricks up its sleeve, if you're too used to NG Black. The most remarkable part I feel is due to the being unable to charge a UT without essence in base NG2004, "that feature was actually added in the DLC along with the better camera control" when you get to the point you fight the Zombie enemies for the first time, they are actually far harder to fight without being able to charge a UT whenever you want. There is a real sense of dread having to fight so many of them, and that lasts until you reach the next Shop and you're now able to upgrade the Dragon Sword to Lv3, and then cut though the Zombies like butter, it's really cathartic, and that small journey was actually lost in NG Black.

It goes to show, even if NG Black can be an objective improvement in plenty of ways, there is still value in the prior version.

Awesome, preservation is important. The Hurricane Packs really show just ahead of his time Itagaki was. I can't think of many singleplayer games that was doing online DLC back in 2004, let alone japanese games. Most devs just re-released new physical versions you had to buy again. Learn the timing and use iframes to tank explosions. Don't stop moving but stay close. If you're not already doing it then get used to getting around in a fight using AX which automatically jumps you towards nearest enemy. You'll know you did it because of the blue trail. It's the most reliable way to string wind path to stun them or to guillotine throw them. Use that with shurikens and what you already know to just keep them locked down
