Ciri is a terrible character. The Witcher books are terrible. The reason the games were successful is they avoided all the bad lore and everything was more grounded. If they retcon all the bullshit about Ciri and just have her be a superhuman monster slayer with defined limits they might get it to work. Otherwise they'll have to introduce new lore and powerful enemies so she is not by far the most powerful being in existence.

I don't think so. She was a literal Mary Sue and Macguffin in the novels, and that was to the benefit of Geralt's journey to find her. Geralt for all his power and skills is ultimately only just enough capable to be a threat to a Big Bad. Ciri has just too much power, and the Witcher games don't seem to accommodate that type of story.
