I called this ages ago. They don't understand why people liked VtMB. People like VtMB because of the camp and pulp. Not because it's VtM. VtM's entire culture is a cringe fest. VtMB took the piss out of VtM, and that's why people like VtMB. Brevity and levity.

people like this were, at best, still sucking moma's teat when V:tm:B came out. It was liked for the shit you think was cringe because it let you do it without having to go full retard into it. That you could be some 20 years too early quippy super powered protag talking to yourself in a TV. And people loved that part . You got to see what domination, seduction and coercion looked like on normal people even if you couldn't s-s-s-stutter out a sentence in public.

VtMB was a cartoon version of what VtM is. VtM's entire reputation through the 90s was the melodramatic Anne Rice LARP shit. And then what Bloodlines did was that it took that and added actual flavor to it. Characters are caricatures. Several of them are extremes manifest for the sake of standing as examples, but their nature contrasts with the muted scowl that would be present in a tabletop compatriot of the period.

The original VtMB devs were so good at turning the dogshit that is the setting and turning it into gold. They made the setting so interesting by ignoring stuff that sucks, omitting information and giving you only the good stuff. Combined with the atmosphere it just makes you want to live in that world. All these vampires know shit that you don't and you have to get nuggets of information from them. These vampires seem to take it for granted that everyone should know you don't go in the woods or you'll get ripped apart by werewolves and you only find out when you are attacked by one.

I guarantee that the ''sequel'' fags will try to stick more close to the source material and pat themselves on the back about how they put so much work in bringing the setting to life, and it will suck, because the setting sucks.
Reading about the actual setting was insanely disappointing, and these devs are guaranteed to use even more recent lore that is all pozzed and infected with modern politics.

I know there's some story reasons for it (she turns up again later in another quest) but you get the vibe that someone high-up didn't like the idea of the player having a blood doll pet.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the game can work in a modern setting without losing its whole atmosphere. Bloodlines is like a time capsule from the 2000s, and none of its humour, music or aesthetics are trendy today outside nostalgia.

I don't even know what you'd replace it with. Maybe I'm just out of touch, but I don't see anything like that urban grunge and rave culture today. Best I can think of is vapes.

Plenty of games are "period pieces" now and that's okay. Attempting to faithfully replicate them might be folly but some attempts also might yield something good. Remains to be seen.

I agree, but that's an inevitable thing. Game could work in a contemporary setting, but that requires developers to be sincere and firm. Which is a rare thing, better safe than sorry is the norm. There probably be some spice in 2, hopefully, devs are UK based after all. Should be something European left in them, right?

VTMB2 just looks like another forgettable World of Darkness game. When I saw what WoD was outside of vtmb1 I didn't really want to have anything to do with it. I think my only experiences with the franchise was VtM Redemption and Hunter the Reckoning. They didn't do much for me, but The Reckoning was kind of a fun distraction I suppose. I also consider that certain games belong in a time capsule and if recreated today it's not possible to bring back their charm. VTMB1 is one of those cases, outside of its CRPG mechanics it also has a characteristic of being a product of its time. Like you'll notice it already about the music playing in The Atrium in the new game, just one very pertinent example of why these games are different at a cultural level. When journos wrote that VTMB2's atmosphere is 'brooding' it's just looks rather generic to me on that note.

So, when we get to embrace someone and sire a childe, are we the Prince by that point? Or do we have explicit permission from the prince to sire a childe? Don't care if we are an elder, this is the Cam and rules are fucking rules.

Not really. She's actually this game's equivalent of that ghoul in Downtown that you can send to be eaten by Pisha. Later in the game, she asks if you could introduce her to Lou. She is a high class gal. You can tell her that she should run, or introduce her to Lou, or tell her she's not your problem.

I don't know what happens if she goes to Lou, but probably not good things. Lou is old school.

Hard to tell. Yea, you do need permission to sire a childe. I don't know what happens in the second half of the story at all, aside from maybe Safia is the sabbat leader.

Solid pick, she will probably have enough money and power that you won't have to worry about working.
>Tremere
Most likely to enjoy just staying inside, but is also part of a pyramid scheme.
>Malkavian
Fun and crazy. I can think of no downsides of a Malkavian when compared to a normal woman.
>Toreador
If she is into you she is is really into you, but would be very high maintenance.
>Gangrel
Probably would want to wander around and go outside a lot, if that is your thing.
