How would you design the ultimate game to appeal to people with autism? Would you make a collectathon that's a never-ending dopamine feedback loop of hunting and collecting shiny things? Or a hyper realistic chore simulator?

the two games that really clicked in the autism sim department for me and got me hooked in ways i could have never predicted were noita and forager. so probably a cross between those two games.

Some super deep min-maxing system that creeps in the more you reach endgame to hyperfocus on.

>all autists are the same
Anyways, the game is Skyrim. People seriously sink ten of thousands of hours into this game? Combat is meh. Enemy variety is meh. There's not even that much difference in locations.

Which particular autist do you refer to? What ticks one, would irritate another.
In general refer to early japanese NES games.
I myself enjoy various things for various reasons. I enjoy Planescape and Morrowind for the world, characters/events/systems connections, for designs, for music, for atmosphere. I enjoy early Minecraft for all if the above and i also enjoy meditatively dig square rooms block after block, column after column. I enjoy meleeing and some guns visual-audio-transforming-to-physical-in-my-mind feedback. I enjoy aforementioned NES games for music, for intentions, for worlds. I enjoy anime for intensity, emotions and honesty. I enjoy HoMM visually and musically. I enjoy beat-em-ups. I enjoy actions. I enjoy the freedom in games. I enjoy beauty in games. I enjoy mysteries, i enjoy exploration. Look at SotN - despite being unpolished in the second part this game provides beauty for eyes and ears, provide unusual designs, provides the atmosphere of the mystery, provides exploration, provides freedom of choice of ways to play it both in combat and in ways you choose. Almost perfect game.
I also enjoy systems i can explore and classify into systems of my own.
I also enjoy Kyrandia.
But there are many autists, who would hate at least one of the thigs i like. Or not hate, but being unable to percept and experience.

I’d make an Elder Scrolls rip-off that also has needlessly in-depth train conducting and railroad construction mechanics that are necessary for fast travel and also affect the in-game economy.
You are the Railborn or what the fuck ever. Mod support would make or break this game, obviously.

the goal of the game is to optimize trains' deliveries from different randomly generated sections of the map as quickly as possible, with leaderboards for each randomly generated map that you can go back and try again, and also a level editor so you can make your own.
Autists will be on that for decades.

I sincerely believe you can make an autist get deep into anything provided it is the only thing he's allowed to interact with.
The modern internet and consumer-centric behaviours are poison to the autist, causing him to focus on irrelevant things. It eventually causes a breakdown of the self, during which his identity rapidly phases as his brain works overtime to figure out the next best thing, trooning out in the worst case with bad influences.

>I sincerely believe you can make an autist get deep into anything provided it is the only thing he's allowed to interact with.
Autists can always interact with his body unless you will restrict everything up to his eyelashes included. And even in case of the total paralyzis autist can always interact with his mind and worlds he build in it. Indefinitely, up to the point of fully inhabiting them and dying out of thirst irl.
Autist only interacts with real object ls because some experience of perception and existing ordered systems hits good. Take all of this away - and there is no reason to interact with what you don't enjoy even in the slightest.

Runescape but botting is encouraged instead of banned
Built in visual scripting and plugins for the low IQ autismos, full-on coding for the high IQ autismos
You funnel all of your botted resources into your main account, or to profit through the Grand Exchange equivalent
Able to host the game locally for community servers or just to go full single player, populating the world with your bots
Hyper autistic Ironmeme game mode where you can't bot at all to appeal to autists who love torturing themselves

Well that's why Minecraft is so famous
You'll hardly find an a/v/tist who wasn't sinking hours in it back when the game was a novelty
