Bastion was revolutionary just by the fact that they went with a bigger budget without knowing if they failed or not, and tried to sell it at a cheap price over on the first online stores, narration and a nice story helped it but it was basically one of the first commercially sold indie games.
Transistor went for more of the same but the whole "build your own attack" along the switch from real time to planned turn was interesing despite the flawed execution, also possibly the only story where there's conflict in a true utopia instead of always devolving into dystopian setting.
Pyre is Pyre.
We're in a time where indie studios are becoming the next AA and soon AAA names, makes you wonder how long down the line we'll have another indie revolution.

Missiles and regular feel like they just don't do enough, Blocking feels absolutely terrible and more often than not trying to do so gets me hit from "Oops autoaim changed its mind."

Just like most things in the game it's pretty meh however. Meeting that bare-chested loli Fate is neat though that silhouette is all you'll see which is also the reason why they can "show" her chest, but that's about it. Their dialogue implies we won't see them again.

Which gets very frustrating with certain characters. The hidden aspect unlocks have similar RNG frustrations.
I got the Axe first from Charon early on, Circe basically handed over hers on the third time talking to her, Selene didn't take too long for the Coat.
Then it got to Moros hours later before he finally gave up info about the Flames, which was worded almost like the game expects it to be the first hidden aspect you unlock.
And I still don't have the Blades or Skull because Artemis and Medea talk about anything but the fucking weapons.

Because the art style is the main thing I see, which putting aside how many of the Greek gods are brown/black is very clearly by a woman for women with how much more sexualized the men are. I liked Hades 1, but I didn't want 2 because there's already a set burn-out for these types of games. You were already grinding a lot in 1, a game that usually assumes a player will die a handful of time before beating Hades once.

Yeah, for me it *felt* harder at first, but now, in retrospective, I can see it was a lot easier. The hydra took quite a few tries to kill the first time and a lot more to kill consistently, while the sirens went down in my second try. Cerberus is also a complete joke compared to Theseus.

I seriously don't get why they didn't make the normal dagger aspects stronger. Melee builds are already way worse than ranged builds, so is it too much to ask that they make these things stronger? They are easily the worst weapon type in the game.

Unfortunately it became a bit more trendy, so nowadays people just break stuff intentionally to put it back together like this, and it's all become a bit gaudy the way they do it. Omega Attack is the entire weapon you have to get comfortable hitting against any enemy really.
A good attack boon is the most important and the flat dmg ones like scorch/blitz/poseidon are better but even the % ones can still be really good.
The rest is just whatever support boons you can get your hands on. Maybe try freeze on special/cast so you have more time to line up omega atk for learning.
The shade aspect is not really that important but still useful early game when you got a lot of free time running around while your attacks ticks.
All the ankh specific hammers attacks upgrades are good.

They did say in some interview (i think noclip developing hell or something) that they want their games to feel distinct, both for the player and because working on call of duty 17 would drain them out. So it was a huge fucking surprise to me when they announced hades 2.
To me it seemed like they sniffed the money from hades and tried to re-create that effect, but hades only was so popular because roguelites were the meta back then.
Pyre was so much soul, it is my favourite game from them. Then hades was I feel a bit too complicated for their writer, since the story in hades, compared to their other games, did not hit the mark in my opinion. This is in part because of the roguelite genre limiting your storytelling abilities.
Hades 2 is much more of a dumpster fire in terms of lore. For me it smells of a fan-service game for their most die-hard fans of hades. It didn't seem like they made hades 2 because they geniuenly liked working on hades so much (although who am I to speak on that)

TL;DR if their next game is not full of soul like Pyre or Bastion, supergiant are dead to me as a studio.

The random race swaps of the gods, Chronos pulling up in Egyptian attire with his skin resembling a japanese repair technique and all the weapon aspects coming from several other pantheons, cultures and religions makes me think that either the entire world of Hades is just called Greece or that the gods and titans will serve as the templates for the various races and cultures across the world after the Age of Men fully sets in

Chronos' outfit is more how a Minoan early bronze age nobleman might've dressed. The short kilt with ornament on the wrists and around the neck was actually typical of Minoan male dress in Crete 4000 years ago. The fact similar modes of dress existed in Crete and in Egypt is because of how interconnected bronze age cultures were with one another. They had a (for the time) global trade network and there was a lot of cultural exchange between Egypt and the Aegean cultures.

I also think this is the case because Chronos was ruler of the earth before the gods, and the gods in Hades are definitely Mycenean in culture, all the famous people and legends are late bronze age in origin. If Chronos is before this, then it makes sense he'd be more Minoan in cultural attire, as the Minoans were the predecessors of the Myceneans in much of Greece.

I don't necessarily hate a lot of these designs. I think some of them could be cool in anything else. My issue seems to stem from the fact that all of these designs seem to be very loosely based off of Greek mythos as if the artist wanted absolutely nothing to do with making Greek gods. The general look of every character seems like it belongs in some other medium/genre entirely. As a Greek man this upsets me just based off the feeling I get that they're just doing this to piss on ancient Greece and make something they couldn't put in their own game, because they lack the funds and security to work on something on their own. This seems like Turkish sabotage.

I liked designs of hades 1 more
Gameplay is better overall but has some ass like i didnt like all weapons that much.
Has the same problem of boons being same shit, not really interacting with each other even though they added their goverment-mandated infusion boons, and so quickly every runs feels the same and after you try all weapons it really has nothnig new.
Story is shit, characters are shit, music is nice but ending song is ass and lyrics don't make sense just like the story of the game.
Also you can't even call this game woke because every character keeps saying how boring and stupid she is and at the end a man saves everything. Even Nyx who felt like a warm person in 1 felt "wow cool, can you fuck off now and leave me alone?" every time you talk to her. Her own mother just tells "wow you're grown, okay go now".


Also just a small annoyance: why everyone acts like olympus was an amazing surprise and basically hades 3? It was obvious when you come into the room theres 2 doors - down, and up. Gee i wonder what the other door for? Are they stupid? Also it unlocked very early but i guess im just a god gamer and it didnt take me 20 runs just to reach Chronos once so thats on me.

She didn't bring the DD restore. It's so fucking over.
