Leveling my second character on Turtle WoW. Never played WoW before but I'm really enjoying the journey.
My Steam Deck came in yesterday and I've been setting it up. Popped some games on my backlog (Blacksad, Lego Jurassic Park, Stardew Valley) and gonna try it out once they've charged.
What I'm looking forward to... dunno! I don't play modern games and indie games are stealth dropped instead of announced.

Nightreign because I just don't feel like playing anything else right now. Depth 3 is pretty comfy but 4+ can fuck right off.

Next game on the horizon is allegedly nightreign dlc this year which I no longer expect to happen. Other than that nioh 3 and sts 2.

This year was a huge year for releases and I fear we are in for some anemic years ahead. I am hopeful that the future is indie and I do have faith in indie talent.

What remains to be solved is indie funding to bridge the gap to provide AA level funding. E33 does not get made without daddy's millions and nepotism connections. In a perfect world all the breakout indie success individuals would band together to invest in and bankroll indies. Some kind of supergroup formed of Notch, Ape, Fox, old heads like Blow, Steakmund, and new blood like Balatro dev, sts devs, etc. Of course this will never happen because too many clashing egos. Would be really cool though to have a funding source that wasn't selling your soul to asian gacha megacorps or a billionaire daughter's vanity corp.

Going though Kirby Ultra Star on DS. Just finished the treasure hunting mode. Started the gourmet racing but it kinda sucks.

I don't understand why people say they have less free time as an adult, I have like 7 hours free each day and don't have to worry about studying or home work, cooking and laundry barely take any time and you can combine them with watching something or listening to an audiobook, and even then you can just order food, I definitely have way more time for my hobbies than when I was in uni living with my parents, also work from home lol.

I just started playing fable anniversary edition, can't believe it's been 21 years since fable came out.

Fable was somehow more complex and more simplistic than I remembered. There's this weird market system that I never noticed when I was young. Traders actually keep check of their supply stock and price accordingly. I'm pretty sure there are hidden parameters for NPCs towards the player as well.

I also thought you could play as a woman in fable 1 but I guess they only added that in fable 2 (which I thought was a gigantic disappointment when it came out. I will emulate it after finishing fable 1 again)

I have to say I've been playing old games from the 90s up until 2007 and I've had way more fun than I thought I would have. I played final fantasy 10, ocarina of time, Gex 3D, dungeon keeper. All of them were better than I expected and there is a sense of "fun" that's lacking in modern games. I'm not a game developer so I can't pinpoint exactly what it is but I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I mean when you play these titles.

First game was great. Loved the ending and the OST. second game is more of the same. And when I say the same, I say literally the same. same mobs, same bosses, Almost the same story. Not really sure what they were thinking with it but I don't recommend it. Around the tail of 2007, the AAA business model as we know it today was put into practice. The unprecedentedly massive budgets for these games and the demands of investors and executives to continually increase profits necessitated a new, more predatory and exploitative approach to game design.
This is where the phrase “player engagement” really began to do damage to mainstream games. Mainstream games of previous generations primarily used the promise of audiovisual spectacles to draw in customers. Player engagement in these games came from the promise of excitement, novelty and fun.

The seventh console gen saw the dawn of microtransactions and the mass adoption of digital purchases in general. The graphics arms race was still in full swing, but many of these games would not drive player engagement solely from excitement and fun but instead from investment, both of money and time.
Grinding, ranks and achievements came about during this time. Subscriptions were pushed more heavily. Internet connectivity transformed the mainstream gaming experience into a FOMO-inducing social network.
The AAA industry was no longer about getting people hooked by showing them a fun time; it was about filing customers into walled gardens and reminding players at every turn of the value of staying within those gardens.
Fun was just no longer the focus of AAA games anymore. AAA games were not primarily for video game enthusiasts anymore but also for moviegoers and the TV audience. The tent widened, and the pool got a bit shallower. Less magic and more money.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point. After a whole morning of troubleshooting and installing patches, I finally managed to make "The L" work without it freezing by deleting my saves, skipping to the start of that level meaning I lost all of my upgrades while still playing on Hard, and keeping graphics at medium and framerate at 30fps. If only because I'm too deep into the game as a whole, I would have dropped it already, I really haven't been enjoying Extraction Point as much as I enjoyed the base game, and even then fighting the same enemies with near perfect accuracy and reaction time got old a long time ago. In my opinion, the game is overrated and it's barely a horror game.

I think I'm also taking too long to beat the game, I was supposed to do a horror game marathon, but I've been doing other things and so far I have only beaten Dead Space.

I have a friend who has been waiting with baited breath for BF6.
The beta was fun, but I just wasn't wanting to spend 60-70 bucks on another military shooter I guess, even if that one felt pretty good to play. I figured I'd drop it quickly, as I tend to do those games these days. And I'm not someone who dislikes competitive multiplayer games now. Still love em. Still keep up too, depending on the game.

It's nice enough, I didn't like the last several battlefield titles and only played them for a few minutes. But this one is sticking. I'd wait for it to go down in price before you try it. And don't worry about player population. I'm pretty sure this latest one will have some die hard players sticking around for awhile.

Well I mean I tried the beta. Felt like I got a solid taste out of it there. Played for quite a few hours. I'd buy it on a deep discount for sure, but I unless those games have something super unique, they just don't call to me like the old BF or CoD games used to.

Realized that when I was in a similar situation. I was 30 dating a 21 year old. I felt weird about it and was always overthinking it until I just asked her one day what she thought and she said she didn’t see the problem. None of her friends thought it was weird. Met her parents a few times and they never said anything about it. Realized I was worrying for nothing.

Same story. I got in shape, halted and regrew my balding hair to the point where I have no bald spot anymore, and now I have less attention at 32 than I had at 24 - 29 lmao. 30+ (and most 20 somethings) women are somehow repulsed by me even though I have a good job too. I’ve been enjoying vidya less and less for a while now. I’m currently playing Hades 2 which is really fun though. New skate has also been entertaining me.

I don’t have much to talk about with other people because I’ve been friendless and therefore never went out much. Feels like I’ve wasted my life.
