Ironically theres a higher chance sand niggers just might greenlight new Alice game compared to old EA sports game factory. Yeah she doesn't cover her hair but otherwise her outfits are more formal than most video game costumes. So for an oil sultan she's only 1/6 haram.

I was thinking about that too. Maybe if American had waited a few more years he would have had a higher chance of getting his project greenlit.

The first game is so much better in terms of gameplay. As much as I find Madness Returns Alice to be a bangable hottie (especially compared to the neckless, perpetually shrugging original), the original American McGee's Alice has the Jabberwock Eye Staff and that weapon is just the coolest weapon to ever exist in a video game.

You do know the Soviet Alice was designed the way she was to shit on the commissars, right? The braindead commies wanted, essentially, a Disney Alice expy but the artists instead gave us this. It's a good thing the Soviet Union dissolved about a decade later or they would have been sent to the gulags for that one.

I really recommend them, they're no masterpieces but they're still great games. And Alice is amazing in both games, but especially in the second one, genuinely one of the prettiest looking games I've played and she has a lot of outfits to choose from.

If you can, get your hands on a pirated copy of Madness Return, which comes with the first game, and then install VorpalFix https://github.com/Wemino/VorpalFix

Habromania also looks very good though the demo is incredibly short.

I wouldn't feel bad about not giving EA money for this after how they treated McGee. Unless you can find it for a couple bucks, there's guides on steam for enabling DLC costumes and a couple other things that you would have by default by just getting the pirated game.

McGee expressed conservative views? Never heard about that but I guess it could partially explain why we haven't gotten anything from him in years.

>>723416889
Pirating sounds like the better option then. I'm glad EA's undergoing a change in management but considering who's doing it we'll have to see how well it pans out. I just hope the series isn't brought back just to strangle out a couple of nostalgia bucks with some cheap imitation of the earlier games.

That's the big dilemma, isn't it? Let the series rest in peace or Watch EA bring it back and turn it into a cheap cashgrab. At the very least if the latter happens we'll see a resurgence in art and other fanmade content...

Even if you do know all of the references, the books are still pretty meh. Then again, I like the Soviet cartoon where they made Alice super stoic for some reason so maybe that's why I found Book Alice to be so annoying with her incessant complaining and crying.

That is true, God knows I was one monstrous little bastard when I was little. My favorite part of the first game was that seething rant the jabberwocky goes on and alice wailing in pain. And then the epic gryphon fight. Pure kino. Also his design is cool. Imagine being a dragon that was btfoed by a dude and then you get turned into a cyborg dragon

Madness returns is cool because it follows up on the first games, with the jabberwock being a corpse but still haunting alice, and the queensland soldiers becoming undead monsters compared to their normal living counterparts in the first game.
ALSO JESUS FUCK WHY WAS CH 3 SO FUCKING LONG IN RETURNS OMFG

>You've kept me waiting, Alice. Have you never heard that punctuality is a virtue?
The Jabberwock is, hands down, the best character in the game. You know who he reminds me of? Fucking Drakor from Dinosaur Planet. I mean, think about it: both are cybernetic dragons, they have the ability to project a purple laser (Drakor from his arm cannon and the Jabberwock from his eyes), and both are the formidable lackeys of a greater force that is represented by a heart motif (the Great Kamerian Heart and the Queen of Hearts), not to mention the fact they absolutely hate women who dress in the color blue. However, while the Jabberwock's malice is pure, Drakor's hatred of Sabre and Krystal is because he sought to stop the Krazoa, the true villains, from aligning the Majestic Eight and attaining the powers of the Quan Ata Lachu, not to mention the fact that the Jabberwock is just a figment of Alice's imagination while Drakor is an actual creature that gets "a kick out of the disappearing coin trick."

Honestly it just makes it more fun. I like the original Quake so playing AMA is a blast. The only thing I don't like is how you have to press ENTER to go down a rope. That and swimming, Alice for some reason swims like she's wearing heavy Vietnam-era jungle boots.
I'd say my most favorite part of the game is Looking-Glass Land. You have no idea how surprised I was to see Alice turn into different chess pieces and forced to move like how the pieces move in the actual game; it's the little things that made what would have been a mediocre edgy fairy tale game into something absolutely spectacular.

It is. I remember reading about it on a Russian website that interviewed one of the art directors (can't remember who) and he said that the communists wanted Alice to have blonde hair, blue eyes, and "a pink, frilly dress" (I remembered this part specifically because it conjured such a strange image in my head) and the artists at Kievnauchfilm (the production company), in an act of defiance, did the complete opposite and made her look "plain". The commissars were angry at this, but they couldn't do much about it and just let the artists roll with an Alice design that coincidentally looked almost identical to the actual Alice Liddell. I wish I could remember where I read it from because it's very interesting to have some insight into how cartoons in the Soviet Union were made since they never really did any behind-the-scenes features and most of the original cels and paper puppets no longer exist.

Hell, a modern reprinting of the Russian translation (I believe in 2019) has illustrations made by an artist who wished to pay homage to Kievnauchfilm's Alice cartoons.

If you do, I recommend the DailyMotion uploads since the colors aren't as washed out as the cartoons found on YouTube; I think whoever uploaded the YouTube versions only has access to worn copies of the film.
If you want the original Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass with English subtitles, might I recommend the following website:
https://animatsiya.net/series.php?seriesid=31
On YouTube you can find an absolutely dreadful English dub of Through the Looking Glass made by none other than the British Broadcasting Company from 1986, four years after the original Russian version was made. I believe it was a part of a larger Christmas program (if the random VHS cut from a live-action program into the animated film is any indication), but I cannot say if this dub was a standalone thing or part of an anthology of sorts; if the latter, it would at least explain why Alice has the voice of a 30-year-old mother who works a desk job. Anyway, here's the dub (watch only after watching the original Russian version):

If we're talking about Alice expies, might I add in my own:
For context, in the fantasy land that my story takes place in, the number of humans is at an all time low with only a few scattered populations on the planet; talking animals who have progressed to a medieval level of technological advancement believe humans to be mythical beasts like dragons or griffins and capable of bending reality to their whim. One day, one of the members of the talking animal society finds a population of these rare humans and finds that they have a rich culture filled with many stories. One such story is known as The Magic Telescope and details the adventure of Elisa, a young girl who finds the eponymous device sitting ominously at the beach and, upon peering into the lens, finds herself magically transported into the middle of a war between the Kingdoms of Light and Shadow. Found by the Knight of Light, Elisa is enlisted into the ranks of the Kingdom of Light and is given a variety of Herculean trials to prove her worth to the cause, such as bringing down the Elephengine or taking the Queen of Light's place in a footrace against the swift Queen of Shadows, and, in exchange for completing these tasks, she can earn her rank, take down the Kingdom of Shadow and, ultimately, return home. Assisted by the Knight of Light and some animal familiars consisting of a hedgehog, a fox, and a badger, Elisa completes these tasks only for her guide to die in combat against the Shadow Knight. With her ally's death, however, Elisa is able to earn her rank and takes down the Shadow Knight in single combat and finds that her enemy is actually the Prince of Shadow, son of the King and Queen of the Kingdom of Shadow. Using the prince as a distraction, Elisa storms the Castle of Shadow with her animal familiars and checkmates the King, winning the war for the Kingdom of Light. After this, she is sent home and finds that she had dreamt the whole story.
The origin is interesting.

So, as you might be able to tell, this is a bastardized retelling of Through the Looking Glass. Within the universe of the fictional land, most works of fiction that we know and love have been all but lost to time, with only mere fragments appearing in dig sites by the humans. Think of it as like a Beowulf situation, where we derive all of our popular copies from a single manuscript, but instead of being sensible and writing it all down, the humans instead like to transmit their stories in oral tradition. So long ago when the humans found a very tattered copy of Through the Looking Glass, they filled in the blanks with their own made up stuff and, as centuries passed and different orators put their own spin on the story, what was once a story about a British girl walking through a mirror and playing a game of chess transformed into a story about how a girl looks through a telescope only to be magically transported Barsoom-style into the midst of a brutal conflict and having to wage war against the forces of darkness. At the point in which the talking animals found the human colony, the humans have long since written The Magic Telescope into a single canonical form, and the humans and animals all know this version of Lewis Carroll's classic tale and remain ignorant to the original.
That's the story. The picture I provided in the first post is an illustration of Elisa, her name obviously a corrupted version of Alisa, or Alice.
For the members of the audience like >>723456561, her dress is red because nobody had ever described her dress and, when someone asked the last orator what color her dress was, the orator said her dress was red with black accents on the fly. Elisa's brunette hair is a consequence of the fact that almost every human in this time period only has black or brown hair, with blond or red haired people being extremely rare and, for all intents and purposes, extinct.
That is the story.

Interesting take, I'd say it could work. I intend mine to be more explicit, as my in my web novel Alice will appear as a manifestation of a parallel immaterial layer of reality where emotions and other intangible things manifest. A character will be in a contract with her and perhaps I'll make her something of a side character who acts as a symbol and assisting figure. And like the other anon said, nice dress on her.

You know what could give some good inspiration for your web story? The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Of course, instead of Bastian using Atreyu as a conduit to Fantastica, the land where all fictional stories take place, you have your character using Alice as a conduit to your ethereal intangible world.
As for my Elisa, I also thought of a plot point where the actual human girl that was said to have inspired the character was a special type of human known as a dreamweaver, a human capable of bending reality, but let the power go to her head as she tried to take over the planet as the Wondermonger; she would ultimately be defeated by the normal humans and was thrown into an icy wasteland to die from exposure but, with the last of her powers, she transformed from a human into a being made of living ice and began her reign as a vicious ice queen which explains why the ice queen is named Alice (aside from the ice pun). Honestly it seems a tad far fetched even for me and it makes the vast world seem just a little bit smaller, but it provides an explanation as to why the humans exile these dreamweavers and why, despite their abilities to bend reality to their whim, the god-like humans live in fear of the masses of normal humans.

Alice is a blonde though. Carroll may have originally intended for her to be a brunette (see the illustrations he himself drew) but he ultimately greenlit Tenniel's depiction as the definitive Alice. Wonderland Alice =/= Alice Liddell. In fact, her appearance is allegedly based on Mary Hilton Badcock.
That said, brunette Alices like Mcgee's Alice and Russian Alice are pretty.

Oh wow, thanks for the recommendation! I'll be sure to check it out, definitely sounds like something I could look to for inspiration. The immaterial world which I envision is more so where all memories, emotions and things of that nature reside, and whenever they cross over into our reality it's where people can form a contract with them.
Having Alice be a dreamweaver who gave the rest of the lot a bad reputation is interesting, and gives a reason as to why people are weary of them. Often in fantasy settings I wonder why the magically gifted people don't just assert themselves over the rest of the population. Especially so in this case where they are god-like, what prevents them from doing so?

The Immaterial World really does sound like Fantastica but more benign: Fantasticans who cross the plane that divides the fictional world from the real world are immediately twisted into lies and agents of deception. Also, memories of those who travel to Fantastica are relegated to Yor's Minroud, also known as the Picture Mine, since doing as you wish as a human in Fantastica causes you to lose memories of the real world until you lose your mind and are thrown into the City of Old Emperors. Simply put, because of how fond I am of Michael Ende's work and how disappointed I was when it ended, you must let me know how your story develops as I am interested in reading it.
When considering the dreamweavers as to why they never attempted to take over the planet, it's simply because they should have been pure of heart. Magic, in the context of my story's world, is some unknown force found in the blood of creatures, with the humans having the an inconceivably high amount of this magic in their blood, and the dreamweavers having the highest amount of this magic. The issue with magic is that it transforms, but most dreamweavers prior to the Wondermonger were changed into the nicest people on the planet, living modestly and using their god-like powers only to perform miracles. The Wondermonger, consequently, was considered a "broken" dreamweaver, as she used her powers to conquer and enslave. While the Wondermonger is the only instance ever recorded, man, once bit, is twice shy and they have since began to exile the dreamweavers from their lands. One dreamweaver that lives in this story was exiled to an island of stone; with no human contact since his birth, he lives atop a mountain with his only companions: stone creatures of his own creation made in the visage of man. Though lonely, he never sought revenge against the people who banished him as he believes it would do him no good. Simply put, magic usually causes people to become pacifists, but not "Alice".

Crazy to think about how a book written in 1865 is still widely talked about. Like, we went from The Epic of Gilgamesh, to the Iliad and the Odyssey, to the Divine Comedy, to The Snow Queen, and in Victorian England we got two books about a little girl meandering about in seemingly illogical lands written by a Christian mathematician of all people. I wonder what the next significantly important novel will be. Hope it isn't Harry Potter, though. I cannot stand that series.

If you wish to be updated or be told of what I've come up with in more depth could you tell me what threads you frequent? Or if you wish to maintain a correspondence elsewhere?
So the dreamweaver's pacifism is born out of their magic? Causing a change even in it's users is novel and quite intriguing, begs the question of how magic came about and why Alice in particular became broken.

>could you tell me what threads you frequent? Or if you wish to maintain a correspondence elsewhere?
I frequent the game developer threads because I am adapting my own story as a computer game, with the Alice thing being an explanation as to why a human dreamweaver, though revered for her prowess in shaping reality, is in hiding and never revealed her powers to anyone prior meeting the player character. I also like to peruse threads related to games that would be considered "retro". But definitely let me know how your storyline progresses; I'd be more than happy to read it and recommend it to my friends.
Concerning magic, it's not known how it came about. The talking animals, a scientifically-inclined race, explain it as the consequence of the Firestorm, a cataclysmic event that destroyed nearly all life on the planet and gave rise to the talking animals in the first place, causing some sort of mutation that allows them to manipulate supernatural forces. Magic is just magic, nobody knows how it came about but many have tried to learn only to find more mysteries left unsolved. What is known, however, is that the blood of a dreamweaver can imbue someone with the magical powers such that, theoretically, a creature that is not magically-inclined can have the powers of a god without being forced to walk the righteous path by replacing his own blood with the blood of a dreamweaver (this will definitely not be an important plot point later).
As for why Alice became broken, she was just born that way; the powers that be just thought it would be fun to humble mankind by revealing the kind of hell a mad dreamweaver could unleash after finding the humans were taking advantage of the dreamweavers' kindness.

If a doll's Rosa Mystica is not willingly given to another doll, the Rosa Mystica will hurt the recipient doll. uhhh i like the first one more overall like looking at the story, art, weapons, voiceacting, but the second one is quite good and memorable as well despite my issues with it. if 2 had more weapons then it would be harder for me to decide but i would sitll probably favor the first game
