I don't think we've actually seen Kojimbo's opinion on AI in the information sphere just in creation.
But anyways we already see Google AI creating context for searches shoved to the top of the results. MGS2 is more true today than it was when it released. All web content being filtered through AI, which can be manipulated behind the scenes to control the context of everything you see online, is the public goal of every big tech company right now. They all want you using their AI tools to do everything instead of doing anything directly yourself. Controlling the context of all information you receive instead of direct censorship is right on the money. More and more people are directly using AI as a replacement for searches or just trusting the AI prompt from google making direct censorship unnecessary. AI is already advertised as a tool that navigates the web for you and only give you the good information you need. It gives authoritative opinions and summarizes articles it pulls as sources. As old web pages are deprecated and lost AI will be the only thing left to interpret and preserve their memory for us. It's all right fucking there and it's happening right now.

In my opinion what makes MGS2's narrative so interesting is that it really captures how AI currently comes across verbally. The way it tries to communicate with us etc. You're never sure if the AI actually knows what the fuck it's talking about but it gets trusted blindly.
This is pretty different from other AI horror tropes like HAL from space odyssey being almost sentient and having a desire to protect himself. Or AM who just hates humans because of his crippled state that doesn't let him do anything except stay on earth, or Skynet which is an extension of the scenario "if you ask an AI to deliver mail until there is no mail left, they will kill all humans so there is never anything else to deliver"
