3 has such a badly told story that it has the worst exposition dump of the entire series and such a badly characterized antagonist they need a whole ass prequel game bundled in to give Mine any depth at all. And this remake is also improving the lackluster filler content with more things to do that opens up side story content instead of forcing side story after side story into the real campaign with no flow to any if it.

That said Yakuza 3 has bigger problems, as it's had a bit of an upswing people really downplay the Orphanage section with "its not that bad and even if it is its not that long" but what they really fail to say is that it's the entire first half of the game, so nothing of direct importance is happening that pertains to Kiryu for the opening HALF of the game, in conjunction with some lackluster story beats in the latter half compared to Y2. Wesker is cool but very silly, byootifur eyes is straight goofy, Mine is kino but he isn't around as much as I'd like, and Ryukyu fucking sucks as far as digital japanese tourism goes.
That said the story is quite good and I really like Kiryu finally getting that rest he'd been seeking since before Y1

See the thing most people seem to not get is that the first section is supposed to be about ''nothing''. Kiryu keeps trying to leave the Yakuza life behind but even during the first section his Yakuza side still shines through. No matter how hard he tries not to he still solves every problem the Yakuza way.

As for the blocking complaints the game literally shows you can get weapons pretty early on. If a little blocking bothers you so much then just get some stun guns or whatever. But grabbing or proper positioning is all I personally need.
