Worst thing is constant hacks of the much more limited 1st game but nobody has gotten Tooie to work when that is the game that really opens up all kinds of puzzle possibilities with character swapping and new moves. Even if you think Tooie has too many moves, at least a few of the new abilities the game gives you can be used creatively, and ledge grabs should always have been in the franchise

Yeah. Tooie will never get romhacks in my lifetime, I've made peace with that. The dev just did too much juju on that game for anyone to figure out how to reverse engineer it beside maybe making randomizers, so it quite sucks knowing we're always gonna be stuck with B-K hacks.

Honestly it's a tragedy. Tooie has way more depth and would allow for some wild designs if anyone could actually crack it, but between the crazy engine quirks and that overworld linkage spaghetti, it's basically a black box. You can tell Rare wasn’t thinking about modders in 2000 when they tied everything together with duct tape and witch spells. At this point I’d take even a basic hub world swap if someone could pull it off. Until then, it’s back to Mad Monster Mansion 2 Electric Jiggaloo for the 50th time.
