I didn’t love God of War, but I didn’t hate it either. It was different, and I wasn’t a fan of the gameplay. Ragnarok, on the other hand, was hot, steaming trash. I hated every second of it. The gameplay, story, characters, locations, bosses, everything.

I played it because I friend lent it to me and said I have to play it. It was a chore to get through and I wished I was playing something else the whole time.

2018 was fine as a build up to a new trilogy with some memorable bosses, primarily the valkyries.

Ragnarok was a mix of good ideas, good ideas implemented badly, and a rush to try and cram 2 games worth of video game into 1 game.
The berserker bosses were a bad copy of the valkyrie boss battles from 2018, terrible post game final boss.

The Norse series commits the worst sin of all with the lack of memorable bosses with Ragnarok especially being an issue

Modern God of War games are basically ashamed of being God of War, and in name only.
First one was at least passable, Ragnorok just sucks hard.

As someone who never played the previous games I enjoyed GoW 2018, the gameplay was fun, particularly special but solid overall albeit with a shit camera. I enjoyed the story, or at least the general goal to scatter the moms ashes. My mother died when I was a baby so the story focusing on a widower and his son resonate with in particular.
Ragnarok sucks and doubles down on every negative aspect of the previous game. Camera is still shit, the game assumes I'm retarded and tells me puzzle solutions before I even have walked up too look at the puzzle. Noone ever shut the fuck up and I don't care about the story. I ended up dropping it pretty close to the end because the game never gave me a reason to care about confronting Odin. The best thing about the game is Draupnir and the game fucks that up by waiting far too long to give the player it
