Takes me out of the experience by reminding me of how complacent, uncaring and incompetent Game Freak have become, and how the Pokemon IP has degraded as a result. The art is worse, the graphics are worse, the gameplay in mainline games hasn't changed at all, there's no effort to match contemporary standards, the list goes on. Worse still, GameFreak actively refuses outside assistance. They choose to be this way. How could I enjoy anything made by people who treat their audience with such disdain?

The graphics is the least of the games problem. Yes the graphics are ass. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. But if it was just that it be business as usual for Pokémon but instead the big issue is the actual gameplay.

The Catching mechanic is a HUGE downgrade from Legends Arceus. Long gone is the joy of capturing a Pokemon from far away like a hunter. Instead you have to get extremely close and throw the ball from a super close distance. And if it fails which you will you will have to battle it. The problem is that because the space to do this is so small its a very claustrophobic situation.

And speaking of the battle system. You are just pushing moves one after the other. It's literal button matching. You switch Pokémon to whatever is super effective. Press buttons really fast and the battle is over. There's no skill, no strategy. Nothing. It feels like ass because it is ass.

And speaking of ass, the city is fucking ass. You go finding Pokémon in Parks, Alleyways and Rooftops yet you don't have ANY movement options beyond running and the stupid rollout. There's no bike, no Pokémon riding, no roller skates. Nothing. Only way to go up is via stairs or teleporters. That's it. Overall the experience of traversing the small city is horrible. The map is smaller than Liberty City in GTA 3 for fucks sake. It's a fucking joke this game was released in 2025.

Overall the game is shit. Don't buy it. 4/10

MOTHER FUCKER. I was there when Pokémon Red and Blue was released. Back then it wasn't a big issue for the graphics to be pixel shit. But each generation the games improved art wise, every single game upping the ante for the presentation. Then we have Sword and Shield with its OoT ass tree. Okay that's only on the wild area the old style places still look good. But each DLC added more horrible looking overworld. But then you are thinking this will get better. And it did, Legends Arceus looked and played much better than the previous game. Things feel that they were going back up. But then Scarlet and Violet got released. And it was bad, like Sonic 06 bad. Then Legends ZA got released and it's just some half baked, half made game. So fuck you motherfucker hope you choke on a fucking dick.

Am a huge pokemon fan. Have been since I was a fucking toddler. I used to be broke as shit and my mom refused to buy me a Gameboy. I used to let a kid have my lunch just to let me mess around with his Gameboy and Gold for like 20 minutes. I see all the terrible graphics and what not. But something deep inside me still wants that bullshit injected straight into my veins. I'm so absolutely KEKED. These shitty games are like crack to me. I can't help myself. Even got S/V even after all the terrible memes, glitches and what not. Can I be fixed?

I find the lack of voice acting in ZA to more jarring especially in a game with a more cinematic anime like approach to it's cutscenes.
The game is eerily silent. There's not even traffic noise.

Yes I know that Pokémon sales come from the power of the brand at this point. But it's infuriating that a game that makes so much money looks and plays like shit. I would be ashamed working for a company that does this. Nintendo developers and other partners would never do this. Miyamoto for example was known for telling developers to start again if the game was shit. It's the lack of care that comes from Game Freak that pisses me off. For me Pokémon was part of my childhood but for Game Freak it's like a Business Report I have to send this Friday.

Westoid VAs, maybe. You can boot up Sonic Racing Crossworlds right now, change the audio to JP and hear most of the Sonic X cast (except for Eggman's JP VA, who died 10 years ago). Most of those VAs were in Sonic Adventure as well (Big's died before Sonic X).
