I really dont like the gameplay style of these games.
When the first amnesia game came out, I was fine with getting hyped up and intentionally not just running through to see the tripwires and scripted events. I played it slow to be immersed and make it more scary.
I wasnt sure what the deal was with the story. Initially I thought the 'shadow' could be you, and this was all a metaphor. But nah it wasnt, you're just in a creepy torture castle.
Anyways too many games with the you can fight monster, its a walking sim nonsense. To the point where its just boring hiding in some fucking closet to wait to sneak past.
I want more VOTV style games. Sandbox work sim where you get spooky events but you know the area because you have other reasons to explore and re-tread the same areas.
In these if you dont know the map in advance its like you may as well run through and die and see where you need to go and where you can hide and all that.
