Final Fantasy XI Online during the years 2006-2009. All the friendships, the linkshell I was in, the cooperation required with other players, the hard as hell gameplay, so punishing and challenging. The whole party getting wiped from a bad pull, god I miss those times.
Halo 2 multiplayer on the xbox being an intro to multiplayer FPS for me, the lobbies, the shit talking, the fun.
The absolute hype for Halo 3 before it came out, and then spending all christmas break playing it with my cousins and friends.
Playing Mass Effect for the first time.
Goldeneye 64 with my cousins at grandmas house, staying up late and then my cousin showing me Tiberian Sun which introduced me to command and conquer
ocarina of time blowing the absolute shit out of my mind when I first played it.

Why are modern games so shit at rain?
Why are modern games so shit at making you want to explore something without a quest marker?
Why are modern games so shit at making relatable characters 4 did it best tho?
Why does modern halo exist?
Ten billions years since minecraft released and every survival crafty buildy miny game since fails to live to a game I paid 5usd for before it released.
Why are so many modern games so shit at mods?
Why are modding sites so fucking shit compared to what they used to be?

We must go back.

Nah, internet was going to shit since every retard you've ever known got a smart phone in their pocket. Remember all those people in class (if you are old enough) that you were glad were too retarded or normal to sit at a computer chair and connect to the internet on some desktop to access some weird anime website?
Well, now all of them got access from the comfort of their toilet
Internet was fucked before Indians also gained access. I'd say around 2009 was the last good year

Coming across the huge crystal with the music track that took the melody from one of Mozart's operas and made it slower and grander was worth nearly dying to get to. That was something else.
Anonymous No.723442662 >>723442882
There will never be as groundbreaking a game as Everquest. UO and Meridian 59 existed before it but the first true 3D MMORPG was something special, particularly the PvP servers because it added even more danger to your adventure. Getting PK'd at the bottom of some of the classic dungeons in 1999-2000 meant you were almost certainly fucked and lost all of your gear that took weeks or months to acquire. Leveling in the newbie zones like Greater Faydark was like the jungles of Vietnam for Elven players on Tallon Zek, if you made it 15 minutes without getting attacked and killed mid combat with NPC it was a special day.

Playing Terraria for the first time, not having a clue what anything is because I bought a physical copy before I had internet so there was no wiki.

Playing any GTA or RDR for the first time when it's new and mysterious too, but I'll be skipping GTA 6.
