The fucking flying enemies in the coral tower who, like any other flying enemy in the game, does input reading when you jump and attack Unless you are under them, but cant be under them in coral tower because of the spikes and because of input reading the keep moving away from you

literally any answer but the grenade throwers in the second docks area is wrong
>take 7 hits to kill with the first needle upgrade, and if you get the second needle upgrade for 44% more damage than that, they still take 6 hits to kill because of damage scaling
>grenades do 2 masks of damage in a huge aoe, magma bell doesn't work unlike with other explosions
>explode instantly on contact with the player, bounce around for like 5 seconds on anything else
>can have two grenades on screen at once
>immune to pogos/attacks from above
>if you hit them while they're preparing to throw it explodes in your face and you take damage
>they're immune to their own explosions so they don't
>you can knock their bombs back at them anyway but
>if they get hit by their own explosions, they become immune to attacks altogether for a few seconds

This single enemy is actually the essence of why Silksongs combat is bad, and you havent actually even gotten to describing the problem yet. Everybody is so close, in the sense that simply describing the characteristics almost implies the problem, but the problem isnt a problem until you cohere the actual experience of the game, not just what enemies can and will do.

Man, im still so fucking tempted to do a big silksong write up thread.

Yeah, this is exactly why ive putt off making the essay thread, ive wanted to make the write up since like the 3rd or 4th werk the game is out, but based on my thoughts, the thread will literally be like 10 straight character limit posts dissecting the game. And is it worth wasting that much time on a game that Im not even critiquing because i think it has some strong elements that are held back. No this is a full critique of the game that would show that Silksong is SO flawed with so few strengths that it made me doubt my love of Hollow Knight and question how a game like this with such fundamental flaws can be called "Le God of indies" and other paraphrasing exaggerated language. But worst of all, all that effort, for a thread that'll last a day at most and likely even shorter, where most replies wont understand or engage with my point?

If it’s flying enemies specifically, it HAS to be the mosquitos in Putrefied Ducts. Those things were just awful to fight, and if they got got by tentacle grape, you didn’t get credit for the Hunter’s Journal kill.

That kind of analysis reeks of mad because bad. Silksong is not a fundamentally flawed game. It’s a fundamentally spectacular game with some rough edges, mostly probably from being too long in the oven balance-wise.

One easy flying ant really solidified how purposeful the annoyances in this game are. There's a gauntlet very close to a bench, with that one flyer placed in such a way as to prevent the run back from being convenient. I now give TC enough credit to have considered every possible encounter runback and purposefully crafted them to have a certain threshold of obstacles.

The dart pepes from bilewater are probably up there. But I feel the worst enemy in the game by far are those flying little fucks that shoot lava balls that stick to surfaces for a long time and deal 2 masks. The ones that spawn on the second niggerfly fight. Those assholes are the annoying holy shit.
