The four defining events for millennials were 9/11, Obama's election, the 2008 financial crisis and OWS. That shaped a lot of our perceptions, and if you weren't paying attention, it had a catastrophic effect on you. You can pretty much trace most millennials' attitudes to just these four events, trusting authority figures came from 9/11, anti-racism from Obama's election, distaste for capitalism from 2008, and with OWS striking the deathblow when the feds went all in on psyopping the generation into "harmless" woke ideology.
For Gen Z, I think the big ones are the culture war, Trump, Biden and Covid-19. All of that seems to be shaping up into a widespread rejection of the status quo. They're rightfully mad, they literally watched the world sell their future on livestream. Won't be surprised when they decide to just kill us all for what we've done.
