Worth?
Anonymous No.723453414 [Report]
Not really, what are you playing on pc that would be better on steam deck to begin with?

User case really, it's really showing it's age in the power aspect
Anonymous No.723453501 [Report]
If you primarily play indie games or emulate older consoles it's great. New slop is gonna run badly on it but then again it is slop so >>>/reddit/ if this applies to you

Very. I have gotten near daily use out of it since I got it 2 years ago. It's great for playing stuff in bed or on the couch with shows on in the background. That said, might be worth waiting for an upgraded/new version at this point since like the other anon said, it is starting to show its age tech specs wise and you aren't going to be getting great (or even playable) performance on most new AAA games. But for what it is, it literally can't be beat.

My roommate has one and I have access to it 24/7. Despite this, I always game on my PC. It's fun to play every now and then, but let's just say I'm glad that I didn't drop hundreds of bucks for it.
Anonymous No.723453783 [Report] >>723459697
if you have a decent gaming PC then it's a completely superfluous novelty and i say this as someone who owns one and uses it regularly
it's cool. pixel art games, indie titles and such tend to look great on its screen due to the high pixel density. but you certainly don't need it

Would it be worth it for a single trip? The flight is 12 hours, and I plan to ride the train a lot. When I get back I probably won't use it outside the house much.

I would say yes, if you can afford it easily. Pretty expensive purchase for just one trip though.

I disagree. Thought the same until I actually got one and now it's so convenient I'll play it in the same room as my desktop.

You'll almost certainly end up using it for a lot more than one trip.

I got through phases where I use mine more, and phases where i ignore it entirely. Overall I would say it was worth it. If you like playing indie games and want to occasionally have a break from sitting at your desk you will get your monies worth.
If you have a big steam library it has intrinsic value over other handhelds since you already own all the games you will play on it.
Ironically its size has made it kind of awkward to travel with.

it costs the same as a gpu. if you have money to spare and already have a good gpu then get it, otherwise get a new gpu

I got an oled 512, added another 512 sd card, modded the back case to be transparent, added a bunch of emulation. It gets 12 hours of battery life playing ps2 emulation. I'm replaying older PC titles and fps horror games are pretty intense with the trackpad as a mouse. The OLED screen is surprisingly sharp. I just need to add PSP emulation on it. It's worth it. I'm shocked with how fast and snappy Steam OS is on it. Sometimes I just browse the web on it because I prefer watching videos on it than my phone, due to the bigger screen. It's pretty cool.

Only if you travel often enough. I can't justify using it at home, even in bed.

For me at least yes,so many games I couldn't play back when I was a poorfag with a PS2 and later PS3

It's a no brainer unless you're a neet with a powerful gaming PC already, because the two main selling points of the Deck won't matter to you. If you go outside often, then the Deck is 100% worth it, life is way too short to not get some vidya hours in on company time.

yes, but i wish we could start it in desktop mode.
i like it more as a portable pc, which it is, than a gaming console. i ended up using it more to watch shows and stuff than gaming.

As the anons have said it was very worth it 2 years ago, honestly a fantastic little machine. But I would wait for the Steam Deck 2 at this point unless you only want to play old games.
In that case pick one up.
