That depends on you mostly but I'd say yes, they can be a lot of fun.

Not at all. Make no mistake, despite Mario & Kirby sharing the platformer genre they couldn't be more different in tone, feel, and direction. It's tough to put into words but I think of Mario as a more mechanically-oriented series while Kirby is a more aesthetically-oriented series. Both great for different reasons.
