Personally the only people I know in real life who mentioned any negative feelings about the Switch 2 just before and just after launch were the super gullible manosphere-addicted types. Which as you said, is a minority, but also is a group notorious for not really holding any opinions and just bandwagonning on the outrage of the week. Which is to say, even a bunch of them ended up buying a Switch 2 anyway.

That's not to say that there are no valid criticisms; I have been quite vocal about my disappointment with Mario Kart World and a few other things. But I did buy the Switch 2 and that game, so...

Remember when Iwata said that charging people to play online didn't seem reasonable? He was talking about the image of the corporation he ran. He probably had an army of trained suits telling him that yes, he could charge, a significant portion of consumers would pay, and they would generate considerable income out of thin air, but Iwata refused anyway, not because he didn't want to make money for free, but because he preferred the company he runs to project an image of fairness and pro-consumerism (as far as possible within the Japanese view, which is extremely anti-consumerist when compared to what Westerners expect).
Nintendo is now in the phase of testing all limits. Charging for tutorials, releasing games for $70 and then charging another $20 two months later for extra content, charging for online play and then adding another VIP tier to online play to charge even more, charging for game updates, charging for downloads of levels made by 5-year-olds in Mario Maker, etc.

Move on. Pokemon isn't for us, and the world has changed. Play the older games or find something else. The Pokemon machine is still going strong, and Gamefreak will do what they do regardless.

Palworld came out. People realized that it's more than possible to make a high quality Pokemon clone, but somehow Gamefreak can't do it.
Then the budget got leaked. Only 20 million USD for a Pokemon game? The Pokemon international company earns over 3 billion dollars per year. But they can't invest more than 20 million dollars into a new game? Of course people are going to be mad. The game would only have to sell ~200k copies to break even, yet it will sell millions.
But even the budget doesn't matter; Palworld had 1/3rd the budget of ZA.
Maybe Masuda could have done a better job, if he was still in charge?

The negative reviews for this game seem to be
