I really wondered what inspired such a massive design shift between NGB and NG2. It's really strange how NGB really pushes all the Zelda adventure elements quite hard and then NG2 is like "Actually, we're not doing any of that" and is just 100% pure balls to the walls action. Yakumo has flashier combos, but it takes too long for him to kill on MN where it's easy to get killed by enemies. A comparison that I've heard is that Ryu is like vanilla NGII in killing power whereas Yakumo is like NG2S. Even with the Evil Dark Dragon Blade, Yakumo's damage output doesn't compare to Ryu's. His gleam cancel also works better than Yakumo's. Ryu will definitely dominate the leaderboards, and he's only going to get stronger because of the DLC. While NG4 is Yakumo's story, the meta and postgame and DLC of NG4 is ruled by Ryu Hayabusa.
