Man I used to play the fuck out of Runescape back in the day -- roughly 2002 to like maybe 09? My activity on the game peaked around 2004-2007 though. To put it simply, it crescendo'd at the absolute right time in tech, vidya, and cultural history. It also has soul. I mean that without a shred of irony.

What the shit do you even do in Runescape? Just go around trying to grind skills up with other people for the sheer sake of it? That's all I ever see people post about doing, grinding their fucking woodcutting skill for days on end.

modern internet made it no longer possible for such an experience to exist anymore, even runescape isn't what it used to be even if you go back to a fundamentally an unchanged server build.

now everything is data mined, meta games, and hyper optimizing the fun out of everything.

only way it would be possible to bring it back is if the internet suddenly couldn't do these things.

runescape has quests and things to do it is just the grindy bits are such a significant amount of time it becomes all anyone talks about.

the quests don't always make sense and the writing can be rather bad but it had charm.

for example an early quest is Romeo and Juliet but both are complete retards and they try and fake Juliets death by using a potion to put her to sleep only for it to actually kill her and Romeo just goes along with another girl instantly and quest completes.

Because every other MMO only has one important "skill" (your combat level) they have to fill out their maps with a bunch of copy/paste filler quests. Runescape instead gets to fill out its map with unique skill based locations, so quests get to be more focused.

I got filtered by jad and spent millions of gp failing beating him. Made me have panic attacks at the end fight and I always die even with the most OP strats. Honestly considering just using a bot for the PVM content in this game at least the one time things like fire or infernal cape.

Its not that jad is hard mechanically its just a very unfair for someone with anxiety issues and the time sink which makes make not even want to try again after 4 failed attempts. ONE HOUR AND 30 MINUTES just to get a chance.

Its a shame because OSRS is one of the best MMO's and community but its got that sourness and bitterness from PVM. PVM sucks. Everything else about the game is great.

The fight will open with Sers Adelphel & Grinnaux as the only targetable bosses. Players should pull both bosses into the center of the arena and focus on keeping Grinnaux and Adelphel at roughly the same level of HP. Adelphel will begin by casting Holiest of Holy, dealing heavy party-wide damage, and Grinnaux will cast Empty Dimension, so players should move into his hitbox. Following this, Adelphel will tether to a random player and begin casting Holy Shield Bash, which the off tank should pick up and turn away from the party. Once the Holy Shield Bash/Blade Dance combo goes off, Charibert will hit all players with Heavensblaze, dealing high damage, which should be mitigated and healed through.

After a certain amount of time, Adelphel will leave the arena and Grinnaux will target four random players with Hyperdimensional Slash. The four marked players should move to the northern end of the arena and space out, making sure not to stand in the cardinals or intercardinals, but somewhere in between to carefully position the portals to where they won't tether or get hit by Adelphel later. The remaining four players should group behind the boss to split the incoming attack and not get overlapped by the frontal cleaves. Once the attack fires, players in the rear will spread out to their nearest markers in the same way the first marked players did, and the attack will fire again. Players should be careful to avoid getting too close to the portals, as they will tether to them, deal massive damage (most likely killing the player), and deal a Damage Down icon1.png Damage Down debuff, severely hindering them.

Adelphel will soon return to the arena, landing on a random cardinal of the arena and begin to cast Holiest of Holy, dealing proximity-based damage. Grinnaux will cast Faith Unmoving, knocking players backwards a good distance. Players should use their knockback mitigation skills here and move away from Adelphel. Next, Adelphel will dash across a corner of

People are talking, just not with (You) or other strangers. They're in their Discord servers/calls with their friends.
The internet isn't fresh and new anymore. Hasn't been for over 20 years. Talking to people across the world is nothing special anymore. There are who are full grown adults now who have grown up with that very privilege. So why would anyone bother talking to you or anyone else in-game unless they absolutely have to?

i don't but in group play games like mmos having a bunch of meta gamers ruins a lot of the charm as you can't just figure out things as you go along with everyone else, it ruins what made games like runescape special back in the day.

it is like watching a show or movie premier with everyone else but the entire script was posted online and everything got spoiled instead of being able to talk to others who are experiencing it for the first time alongside you.

I don't think anything makes me as nostalgic as RS music. It sounds faggy but I immediately get brought to tears sometimes and can't even listen.

I tried it when I was a kid and thought this is the kind of game only retards get into, then dropped it

Then later I tried again cause someone sold me their account for gold in another game, immediately caused his character to die in the pvp zone and lose all his shit then never played again

Adapt and overcome
Fuck your anxiety. Buy your infernal cape if you want to be an eternal shitter, but if you can't even earn a fire cape then there's no hope at all
Go kill Scurrius. If you can successfully pray against his range/mage attacks, then you can successfully pray against Jad. He gives you the exact same 1.6s window to react.

All you can do is keep pouring in hours until you're desensitized to the subconscious fear that eats away at you. Beating Jad will feel absolutely incredible I promise you.
