At least in regards to the Spiderman sequel, it was just obnoxious how it seemed he was propped up as this perfect character while Peter was dumped on in almost every part of the game. Making 2 games and already dumping on the first protagonist to the point the sequel ends with them basically saying the new protagonist would do a better job than them, and that they're more or less retiring, is annoying.

Like, let Peter be a character at least for a little while before immediately throwing him into the dumpster in the most aggressive way possible.

Also, the suit Miles gets later in the game is atrocious. The exposed hair, when the entire point of the suit is to protect your fucking identity, is retarded. Not to mention the outright tennis shoes he's wearing. I get that Peter's suit also has bits on the feet that make them look more like sneakers or something, but it seriously looks like Miles just threw on some shoes he grabbed from a mall somewhere, then called it an "upgrade".

Miles isn't an outright bad character, but his implementation and way it coincides with Peter being dumped on constantly brings about a lot of resentment. It's tough introducing a new protagonist to, essentially, replace the old. Even tougher when you're doing it in the second fucking game in a series. So the way they handled it is atrocious.

having 2 characters with the same name operating at the same time is confusing. Having 2 characters with the same name and using the same antagonist pool is cheap and lazy. Having a character so utterly and repeatedly dependent on multiverse shenanigans and alternate versions of himself or his or even worse someone else's theme to garner any kind of recognition is sad and pathetic. He's the least interesting part of of his own stories and is almost always dependent on other "spiders" to make him palatable.

Looking at these two examples and the comic, they drastically change his origin story in every iteration, flinging shit at a wall, hoping something will stick. Peter dies, his mom dies, his dad dies, nobody dies. It's just his uncle is a thief to varying degrees and sometimes that might be the cause of the spider bite. No consistency of purpose, drive, or interests throughout any media. He mainly just exists to be black Spider-Man. That alone is is his one continuous trait.

I dislike that anytime Marvel starts up a new project with Peter, they'll force Miles into it one way or another. The 2017 cartoon is prime example of this. Like, you got high school Peter Parker hanging out with mfing Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen, all in the 1st season.

He's a mary sue. He basically has all the power of every super hero with none of the drawbacks. He's a shallow representation of the "unbreakable token" he doesn't exist so much as a character as he does as just a checkbox to appease the readers. Everything about him and his fandom feels genuinely fake and forced.

Miles is a boring character by default but I see the appeal of new writers liking him. You can just retell Peter's stories but add "what if Peter was black" angle with little effort. It's bad that Miles is a 10+ year old character but I can't find any story runs that comic book fans say are must reads

Into The Spider Verse was actually decent, but in the second movie they turned him into the most threatening Spiderman chased by hundreds of other Spidermen? Started out as a completely random, shoehorned "legacy character" to Ultimate Spider-Man who had just died. Had zero connection to Ultimate Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
When the Ultimate universe ended, he was then brought to the main Marvel universe and became a legacy character to an already existing, and living Spider-Man who constantly had to be shat on, even more than usual mind you, in order to make Miles look good.
Constant powercreep on tier with all the Spider-Women (all six hundred of them). He can't just be "black Spider-Man" he also has to be able to turn invisible, shoot lightning and have a sword.
Pretty much everything that isn't complete trash is a hand-me-down from Peter. Even his girlfriend Gwen is just Peter's old girlfriend lol

I'm not against older superheroes passing the torch to younger characters but it has to be done with respect, and
1, Miles hasn't earned it
and 2, Peter is never in a good place where I think I can say, you know what, Peter can hang up the webs and ride off into the sunset with Mary-Jane, Gwen or Felicia or fucking Carlie Cooper or fucking Marrow from the X-Men or something lol
I was on board when it happened with Ben Reilly because Peter and Mary-Jane was about to become parents (lol) and I was in a similar place myself at that time and having Blond Peter Parker, working at Daily Grind instead of Bugle and having new supporting characters around was fun to me. When it kept failing to sell, Bendis, who has continually fallen upwards at Marvel somehow, killed Peter off entirely, and when that did work he brought Miles back years later and retconned him into being in the mainline Marvel comics. It was all part of a bush for"diversity" even though Marvel comics were always incredibly diverse since the sixties.

In Marvel's Spiderman his writing is shitty and it just makes no sense, he's some kind of casual genius surrounded by other casual geniuses in a school of casual geniuses, like what? I only really care about Spider-Man(Peter) and Robin(DC) because those are the ones I grew up with. I don't read comics, I haven't played the newer games, and I still haven't seen either of the Spiderverse movies.

Miles as a character is legitimately just lazy. Bendis outright said he made Miles after getting bored of writing Ultimate Peter Parker and Marvel editorial was looking to make more 'visibly' diverse characters at the time.
He replaced one of the best versions of my favourite superhero right as the comic was getting back into a groove after a slump caused by one of the worst comic arcs ever, and what did you get from it?

That's literally it. His supporting cast was barely present, his personality was just 'timid nerd' with no progression, none of his action scenes were cool due to him just oneshotting everything with his venom blast, his only unique antagonist during the original run was his Hydra supporting girlfriend.
So what did they do to fix this? Move him to the main universe where his entire premise for existing is just gone. He's not replacing a dead hero. He's just THERE, in the same way that a billion other non-Peter spider heroes were just THERE. He then had nothing new or interesting happen other than multiverse shit up until his latest run which is more wanking about how cool he is and giving him stupid crazy shonen electricity powers. The only piece of media that has made him interesting is the first Spider-Verse movie, which they then immediately ended up fucking up by doing the same shit as the comics where the sequel wanks him off for being so DIFFERENT despite ending up just as a reskin of a pre-existing character.

Miles to me, is a microcosm of everything wrong with modern capeshit. He's a mixture of brainless identity swapping from that 2013-2023 period of 'woke corporations', multiverse bullshit that removes all stakes from death and destruction, ignoring the HUMAN aspect of superhuman stories in favour of guys punching each other with a half-assed plot.

Miles will never be a good or even iconic character, he'll ALWAYS be hidden behind Peter's shadow, no matter how much people try to hype him up.
