Now, to be fair, when the Weavers left/died, the Citadel was 'unadorned'. It was the bugs they left it to that turned it into what it is today.
One of the Weaver memorials even mentions it's guarding the 'clear waters' of what is today Bilewater, so presumably the environmental destruction didn't happen under their watch.

But still, both the vaultkeeper and the architect hold directives to obey weavers, which implied to me that the current state of the citadel's infrastructure was constructed under their watch. In my mind the conductors were responsible for Pharloom's decline, which is not really their fault, because their silk began to run out. What's more likely to me is that there was a schism within the Weavers, and the victors were responsible for the grandiosity and industry. The losers likely fled.

If you reached that point in Bilewater you've already encountered the bench on Sinner's road that eats your money and doesn't work until you pass a platforming challenge and maybe the bench in Hunter's March that has a trap that causes you 2 masks of damage every time you try to sit on it unless you move into the hidden room at the left and disable the trap. At that point the game has already primed you that benches in weird/hostile-ish areas can fuck you up. And the fact that the bench is slightly crooked should be an extra indication.
If anything when I saw it I was like "That's definitely a trap isn't it" and when the floor collapsed and Hornet gracefully and slowly descended to the maggot infested water without any platform in sight I was like "Yep".

How effective are the cogflies against the second Beastfly fight and for that matter the platforming challenge of Far Fields? I'm really not looking forward to doing them in Steel Soul so I want to give myself all the edge I can get.

Against Beastfly the adds are the biggest problem. Cogflies can deal with them and take a massive chunk off the boss, but you're best off thread storming the adds the moment they show up.
For the platforming challenge, you mean the one to get to Karmelita or the one to get to the flea? For both, you're better off farming the enemies for silk if you need to heal.

Oh yeah, the lava challenge.
If you're talking about that one, same deal. Pogo the other enemies to death for silk and thread storm the fire spitters. When the actual escape sequence starts just focus on platforming and ignore the enemies because if you're doing it right you'll be going to fast for them to hit you anyway, and if you're not doing it right you'll get caught by the lava anyway.

You can cheese the boss by leading it to the upper right area of the room to the left. I didn't, but I just had to keep dps and kill off the aspid summons as fast as I could. Only reason I beat it is because I broke the boss' poise right when it was doing the summon move and cancelled it.

GMS didn't create the Citadel, the Weavers did after they betrayed and imprisoned her because they didn't want to spend forever keeping her asleep. It is explicitly stated that the purpose of the Citadel is to keep GMS asleep and that the Weavers palmed it off on mortal bugs, and when it became clear that they weren't gonna be able to keep her asleep, either, they scattered like the vermin they are.

Nor was First Sinner imprisoned by GMS, she was imprisoned by the other Weavers because she threatened to reveal the lie of their divinity and upset the entire false order that kept GMS asleep.

Blighttown has better design than Bilewater (outside of the whole performance issue thing). The toxic snipers are a dick move but they're pretty spaced out and there isn't any other massive source of damage that the area tries to jumpscare you with (plus they stay dead if you kill them). The checkpoints are also reasonably placed and generally hard to miss.
I also wouldn't really compare Blighttown to Valley of Defileshit, outside of an unavoidable poison status swamp the challenges of the two are fairly different. You're typically not in danger of dying via gravity in Valley and you're not typically forced to fight things while stuck in swamp goo in Blighttown.
Blighttown has plenty of alleviating things you can pick up or do (Rusted Iron Ring, poison cure items, just straight up skipping it via New Londo Ruins) where as Bilewater is always going to be an annoyance.

It really wasn't. Maybe it's been too long since you've played PoP to remember, but playing HK and SS back to back PoP isn't really that hard. There's very little pressure so you basically get infinite retries with the right build (not that you need them), and it falls into the very common kaizo trap where it's really obvious what you need to do and where because there's literally no other option for advancing through a given section. It's almost entirely execution and that execution isn't that hard.
Granted, half of SS's difficulty comes from Hornet's default pogo attack actually being complete dogshit.

Hornet has a father and several mothers. She derives from her in more ways than one, as the story itself makes clear.

Male figures being present also helps to moderate women (and vice versa).
Its also true that women in Silksong use magicks to conjure children from thin air, but in this process something gets lost, and the children are twisted and wrong.'

Societies with potent males in silksong bear healthy children. The ants and craw peoples primarily, but also fleas.

Still, there's the issue of fathers. Silksong doesn't really portray fathers much at all, beyond some far away patriarchs. The union between men and women is wholly absent from portrayal.

Coral Tower was gay because it makes you go though 2 easy time wasting gauntlets just to attempt to the third, which is only 'hard' because of coral suddenly appearing in weird locations. It's a 'gotcha' moment until you've seen it, but then fuck you, you gotta replay the two easy (but borning and lengthy) gauntlets before you can get another attempt. It's especially bullshit when the whole floor gets covered in coral. That shit tripped me up when I first saw it, but you can just clawline and pogo the axx thrower to easily rape his ass. I just wasn't used to actually fighting while clinging to the wall with no ground to stand on, so they 'got me'. But it felt like a dickish move rather than a real challenge. The boss Krusty Kang or whatever the boss is called wasn't only mildly challenging, and the fourth 'gauntlet' was easy. Overall, so far, the game has nothing that's even in the a same universe as Hollow Knight DLC difficulty.

Bilewater was fun. It's no path of pain. That was super meat boy and I wanna be the gay levels of bullshit. There's a long run back, but once you know where all the traps and enemies are from having experienced a few times, it's easy. Well I'm saying the holocaust narrative has changed a LOT over time as things have been slowly debunked. For example, the modern claim is that most people were shot, rather than being killed in gas chambers. Since one by one the gas chambers have been debunked.
Also they claim this was an action taken by german command, as there's literally zero evidence hitler ordered it, or even knew about it.

I mean it's all beside the point considering the whole thing is war propaganda. The only supposed death camps were in soviet territory where inspections were banned. All the camps ok the western side were inspected and found to have no genocide facilities or anything of that nature.
