Even though the environments and the atmosphere are really compelling, the combat is stale and only gets worse towards the end.
Saga's detective board is pretty pointless and mostly a waste of time. Some of Alan's typewriter puzzles are badly designed (just guesswork).
The boss battle concept in the looping spaces is incredibly cool, but it lacks a proper culmination.
The end of the game is clearly rushed. They probably had something grandiose in mind, but couldn't do it

Has way to much walk and talk over fighting, I don't know how this narrative that Alan Wake had bad gunplay when it was made by Remedy got started but everyone seems to think it. Besides being black Saga is just a bad character, I get when they wrote her we were in the current year era of writing but that shit is aging like milk. She literally has a mealty about a WHITE MALE telling her what to do

tried to play it twice, both times i couldn't get the game to start, no matter what i tried.
the process just stopped after launch without error, could have been fun.

It's her shadow trying to make her break down, but she doesn't. Always being so calm is a part of why she's a bit boring, but I think she's fine as the "I don't know what's going on" type of protagonist

It's unfortunate they couldn't keep the character designs they originally unveiled...

I personally know a Remedy dev. They (the devs) like diversity and want to add it, they don't need anyone to external to force it.
I doubt there's anyone black working for Remedy, and because they wanted to do it "right", they paid for a black consultant to comment on the script. That's the point of companies like SBI. If you think that sort of thing is necessary or not is 100% a question of values

I liked Alan Wake when it came to PC. I thought it was a good game with some significant problems (long stretches of repetitive combat towards the end), and I've seen many people describing it similarly.

Its all about smoothing the gameplay to make way for an interesting narrative and world.

people are fond of the prequels because they did their job in worldbuilding and telling anakins story. everyone with the thinking skills i described knows that the plots of each film are poorly written but still fit nicely within the star wars universe.
unlike the prequels, alan wake was always liked by people and just got more popular later, after it released. i wouldnt expect you to know since youre probably too young.
