There's nothing wrong per se with feet since they're a physical kink (meaning what gets you going is situational and does not have some deeper meaning about it). At best you could relate it to submission fetish due the implications of feet stepping on something but even then it's not too egregious.
The real issue are people into feet. Because msot people don't care or ignore feet since they're in the opposite place of what you usually look when engaging with somethign (eyes, face, mostly the uppor half of the body), in order to place the feet in the spotlight one has to go out of their way to do so, showcasing to the world that you are into feet. It's a fetish that's hard to hide or add in a nuanced way.
The easiest way to tell a footfag artist from a non-footfag one is that the former will always take care of them. Toe rings, barefeet, some lignerie or fishnets that exposes the foot or shows they're dirty/sweaty, etc. That along how any time feet are put into the spotlight footfags will start salivating and openly talking how sexy they are makes it a very closed conversation to have with anyone.
In other words, footfags are the vegans/vegetarians of fetishes: Even when done in a way that harms no one, they'll make sure that everyone knows and karp hard when confronted about it. Annoying people to talk to compared to most other fetishes which can be quickly classified as "vanilla" or "too far"
