Anyone playing 1.0?
I hate my fucking starting village. I hate the elder's house making me feel feel forced to incorporate it into the rest of it.
Is there any negatives to just running away and starting a new village in a desert or some other biome? Are the mobs there going to gape my villagers since I'm playing on hard and they can die and all that?

Summons are probably the most powerful build especially if you're solo. They do actual damage and go out of there way to attack things instead of just hovering around you.

There are summoning weapons and items, and armor/trinket buffs focused on making summoning stronger and allow you to summon more at once. Supposed to be pretty strong throughout the whole game. I've got some little tree fella from a dungeon who goes around smacking things with a mallet, and he gets faster the more things he smacks.

Don't wait to start setting up potion making since it's so damn useful and basically free for the basic potions.
Also if you really need coins for something you can always just sell wood and set up a little tree farming area for your villagers to chop down when they aren't doing anything else.

I can see this game being fun but god they had like 15 years to learn from terraria and they still made an absolutely shitty UI/tutorial/everything information-related and there's no doubt you'll have to end up going to a wiki for a million things

Don't be like me and miss this super important dropdown menu. This allows you to make sure your chests don't overflow when storing multiple items in the same one. Incredibly useful for stuff like food so you can store a single stack of almost every food item in a cooler and have all the excess get sold/turned to fertilizer.

Use the crafting guide item in your inventory, it'll tell you everything an item can be used for.
Besides that its just about following the quests given by the elder starting NPC.
I will admit though, my familiarity with Rimworld and games like CDDA has made it hard for UI to bother me.

You can solo stuff without issue. It even has a feature where you can equip your villagers with gear and tell them to come with you when you go exploring. On normal difficulty you can revive them with a potion if they go down. Plus if things get too hard or too easy you can swap difficulty options on the fly.

To be fair it is pretty comparable to Terraria. At least early, I can't comment on later. But the first boss is summoned by using an item at night even. And after that you start getting raided. I forget when goblins start raiding though in Terraria actually.

ive got a few summon weapons, some even work without taking up summon slots
using a staff that gives snowman who throw snowballs(can have 3 due to my gear), got a staff that lets me summon 3 bushes but the enemy has to get real close for them to activate and attack(no cost max for them is 3) and got a summon weapin from the spider boss that also doesnt cost anything and summons icicles that circle you and attack when enemy gets close
also got a sword summon but it takes up 2 slots worth of summons so its not good right now.

my gear wil give me a free spider for every 3 summons(real summons)
so i have 3 snowman, a spider, 3 bushes and like 9 icicles.

I was planning on going magic-focus only, but summoning is actually nice too. Diving Blood Volley spellbook is too good right now though. I guess I can do both though if I use the gearset shit, but I never use those things in any game though.

I beat the final boss and got to mapping but mapping is the part I fucking hate since PoE so I guess I'll just leave it at that. 6.5/10, alright game, makes me want to play something with deeper settlement management system.

It's not really the same kind of game but I've been really enjoying Farthest Frontier for a basebuilder that demands some infrastructure. Song of Syx is pretty good too but a lot more autistic/dwarf fortress with visuals and a little less demanding infrastructure.

Sorta. When you beat the last boss in the deep caves, you get a portal that lets you enter generate random dungeons (maps) using tablets, like in Path of Exile. The mode has buffed old bosses and its own unique ones as well as the final final boss, so it's not really post-game in the usual sense

I played Necesse when it first came out in Early Access, and it was a really fucking solid game despite having... shitty graphics, to be blunt. I then left the game alone until yesterday (forgot it came out 16th), and I'm just now starting to actually progress.

Image is a little outdated, as I now have cows and more villagers, but my starting location was shit. I'm just using barebones things right now. I'm approaching this like a top-down Terraria rather than Rimworld.

Sometimes a missing floor tile is ungodly impossible to find. One of the corners in the larger room might be missing a tile, and you just don't see it. That, or it's incredibly fucking petty and upset that the tile the door is on doesn't have a floor.

I played the game a few years ago when the strongest boss was the wizard guy and found it to be fun even though it's really ugly.
I don't really feel like doing another solo playthrough right now, but if anons are interested and there's enough content I would be okay with renting one of the servers offered by the service the game's partnered with.

They died because I was miles away trying to find a new spot to build a better settlement instead of defending them, and they also didn't have any good equipment.
But yes, people will arrive to be recruited every day, you can also find them underground and rescue them or recruit them from NPC villages.
This is only on Hard mode or higher by the way. They just get knocked out in normal or lower.

It's 1.0, so I think any updates in the near future are just going to be fixing minor bugs. Should be okay to at least try it on a pirated copy, and should be able to copy your save over even if you do buy it.
BUT you'll want to make sure you pirate 1.0, because they changed how world generation works, completely. Biomes used to be separate instances, now its an infinite world.
