What should Bowser's relationship with the Koopalings actually be legally or eternally and therefore Juniors relationship.

1. Actual kids of his who are less favored than Junior. Probably the least healthy
2. Often extended family members he's officially adopted or has custody of in some matter speaking.
3. One niece and six nephews of extended family members who are still around but they're using nepotism to get them close to Bowser for whatever reasons most likely their own benefit in the future.With Lemmy and Iggy being the actuals only siblings in the group because they're twins.
4. Probably the same species as Bowser who basically took over the parent's jobs but aren't really relation to him but he treat them like his children occasionally because of a bunch of kids under his authority.( I did not plan on making it that big)

It's redundant for him to have 8 kids, the game you posted had it right where they were the commanders of his army that were basically part of the family because he puts them on babysitting duty

If Mario and Luigi are canonically in their mid 20’s abd Bowser is too, I doubt the koopalings are biologically his. Since most of the koopalings seem to be teenagers.
I would say they’re either simply the same species Bowser and his underlings, or maybe relatives but not necessarily his kids.
