Of all the shitty megas from this game. This is the one that I hate the most. It is literally just its shiny with the only noticeable change to the model being its big ass feet. The worst part is that Skarmory had some of the greatest potential for a cool mega. Its a steel bird. Just add more armor or blades or turn it into a damn fighter jet for all I care. But instead they did this. Big feet, covered in mustard. I hate GameFreak man...

Half of the funny part is that they just gave the weapon bird more weapons, and the other half of the funny is that they're his fucking talons, so it looks awkward as fuck, but that's kind of the point.
That's honestly just part of the issue with conveying a design. I honestly have no fucking clue what Mega Eelektross is supposed to be, some kind of Dragapult concept?
A lot of Pokemon just get 'better' conceptually when you realise "Oh, Vanilite is an icicle covered in frost to look like an icecream, not actually icecream!", but with M-Skarmory, it just wasn't conveyed properly because they're never given a spotlight.

A design can be both bad and endearing at the same time, or simply liked because it's funny. That's a whole genre of brand goods in Japan where they sell intentionally ugly characters and people love them. Personally I think it's terrible and an actual Mega design that made it look cool would be better.

Y’know thinking about it I think the thing that all the megas I dislike have in common is that they arnt exaggerated in the right way. Like most megas take the most well known parts of a Pokemon and make it, more y’know. Some of these feel like they only took one speccific thing like Pyroar mane or Skarmory's feet and exaggerated them without changing much else. Others also seem to add new gimmicks that weren't there before, like Feraligatr Totodile disguise. I definately like most of them but theres quite a few this gen that I don't.

yes unironically. the average person's imagination is whatever is cool, they have no actual limits. gajillion dollar corporations like porkyman only care about slapping together something 'good enough' that doesn't require a ton of effort on their end because the only goal is shitting the product out. yeah it would be cool if the city was bigger, that would be expensive. yeah, it would be neat if the new pokemon looked cool and not whatever random object they had in their pocket that day, or if the megas were actually unique formchanges and not lankier or with big dumb hair, but that would take a lot of time and effort to design and changing the skeleton and base model up too much would require a lot of extra effort.
gamefreak is not a creative company. their focus is not a unique end product. they are dedicated to churning out identical, cheaply made products that rarely push the envelope in fear it'll upset the delicate nature of their 100% luck obtained cash cow. and its fine if you lobotomites want to defend them purely on sales, because thats their only merit, but acting like they have any trace of a soul left anymore is just covering your eyes and plugging your ears.

Yeah its a good Idea, just not great execution and it comes at the expense of the gender gimmick theyre known for. They coulda made the resot of the body bigger and bulkier so it dosent look so to front or top heavy. Maybe have the female version use a different kanji for a simile for its mane so It can keep the gendered gimmick.
