RE3 (1999) had this. It's been done to death. Once you figure out how to cheese the bad AI each "chase" becomes a tedious chore rather than tense survival

Resident Evil is at this point now where they have all this lore set up and the fans basically want Rainbow Six Siege with BSAA.

The problem though is that the first person horror titles gain way too much traction on Twitch, so you're stuck now between appeasing those two bases.

RE7 is my favorite RE game.

Most people will say 1 remake or 4 but 7 really has a nice package.
The story is very solid until it gets kind of silly in act 3 but it's probably the scariest RE game.
The DLC is all excellent and fun. I mean honestly, when I saw all the DLC when I bought the gold edition I thought I wasn't going to get all the achievements because there was a lot of it, but I ended up doing all of it and actually had a lot of fun doing it all.
The poker game DLC was great
The "Jack's birthday" where you just run around the house collecting food for jack to eat was even fun.
Then the actual story DLC was also pretty fun, beating the moldy fucks with the fists.

It's just a very solid game overall, I liked RE8 too but the setting wasn't nearly as atmospheric or fun as 7. I just like the baker family and their story and all, it's just fun

The camera options and cross gen kill it for me.
The game should either be designed for first or third person, otherwise they can't perfectly tailor the experience for either. Also being cross gen shows this isn't even truly a current gen game, we're still stuck on PS4. On top of all that the game seems bland.

9 hours maybe if you just play through the story once and don't touch anything else.

7 took me 74 hours to 100% it and all the DLC.
8 took me 60 hours to do the same and the DLC.

Excelent question, one ive spent hours graphing with my degree. Opportunity cost. A 100 hour JRPG has no "stickiness", ie easy to replace with as an alterative. The burger and movie being both tactile or social is much less replaceable. Only so many restaurants in a 20 min drive, infinite videogames.

I hope that the game is like the demo, with a little bit of combat. But Capcom is going to want to make all the money and the RE fanbase was overtaken by actionfags ages ago.

Autists will piss and moan about how "real" Resident Evil is about creeping around using sticks to make fire and pipes to make guns, despite the fact that nas never been the case and the very first game in the series has you running around shooting niggas with grenade launchers while a research base is collapsing then shooting an advanced bioweapon with a fuckin rocket launcher before an area the size of multiple city blocks explodes.

I'm fully convinced the people who are about to reply to us only play the first 1-2 hours of the first 4 games in the series, and through advanced cognitive dissonance, ignore everything else in those games. Such as the entirety of RE3 being an action game with a dodge button.
