Pixel Scaling
Let me guess, you need "more"?

CRTs really don't smudge pixels as much as you think they do, not even close to anything in OP's pic that's for sure.

Why can't they make an AI filter that makes it higher resolution but faithful pixel art?

The kindest thing I can say about this is that looking at the Boo and Space Invader examples don't make me feel like I'm losing my vision as I pass out from an injury.

Unironically yes. Pixel graphics, up until the widespread adoption of LCD displays, were designed to take advantage of the fact that the console pixel grid does not line up perfectly with the triads in CRT sets.
Anonymous No.723614943 [Report] >>723617553 >>723618749
Does this shit look better with scanline filters on top?
I could never play with any of these things on, always makes everything look like shit. Don't get the appeal, and no scanlines don't make it look like it's on a CRT.

Just so the pixels at that point. It's like how modern games can't do lighting, just go backwards till you figure it out. I feel RGG and the Yakuza engine are the only people who can produce lighting modernly.

>>723614829
if you just play at the proper zoom/resolution, raw pixels look just as good, if not better, every time.
Anonymous No.723617553 [Report] >>723618749
>>723616308
Not really. It's hard to capture it on camera, but actual CRT pixel graphics have a subtle glow to them, especially on a black background. And that's before getting into the actual documented techniques that pixel artists used in the past.

>>723614943
and yeah filters fucking blow
Anonymous No.723618119 [Report]
>>723616308
disagree, a CRT will in fact turn a single pixel into many

I can't get more technical than that. It doesn't look good and it doesn't at all resemble how things look on a CRT.
It's supposed to either look good or "emulate" old displays right? Well it does neither. That's the issue.
Anonymous No.723621350 [Report] >>723621426

>AI
You people really do think AI is just a miracle machine, don't you? If GenAI did any upscaling it'd be the same shit. Hell, this technically already is "AI" just a dumbed down form of it.
