I love games that simulate huge battles that actually feel good to play. There are very few that do this.
I had way more fun with viking, battle for asgard than any recent cinematic over the shoulder 10 hour tutorial """game""" with a shallow story that was still up it's own ass

They need to return to the lo-fi development tools of the 2000s, so games won't need 5-8 years of fucking development time anymore. God of War I-III + the spin-offs were develop over the course of like 7 years. Why can't we have that kind of turn-around anymore? The Mass Effect trilogy released over the course of five years! Andromeda alone took five years, and the next one is still like 3 years away.

AA was the lifeblood of the 90's and early 00's, it's what kept the hobby going and growing, EVERYONE has a kinda-mid game that they played when they were younger that they love and remember fondly despite being a 7/10 at best, or a game that had great ideas but a tiny budget that shows

it's actually incredibly how much 2006-2008 fucked up the entire tech industry, with the PS3 and 360 starting the enshitification of games and the constant chase for more profit, and the iphone causing the rise of social media by giving every fucking normie portable and dumbed down access to the internet

They can't do that. What sells these blockbusters is precisely the fact that they are blockbusters.
You're not going to spend $150 million marketing a low-poly game with unfiltered textures trying to show how good the pure gameplay is (which can only be effectively tested by playing). You spend $150 million on marketing by putting a 3D simulacrum of Keany Reeves or whoever presenting the product to normalfags so they say, "Wow! I thought it was the real actor for a moment!"

It doesn't work like that. You cannot grab 10 AAA randos trained to make AAA and who are used to working with AAA tools and give them 10 dollars and a bar of chewing gum and expect them to make an indie game as an indie game company would.

We're having indie games made in UE now, so I'm not really sure what the difference would be when those indie devs have access to the same AAA tools as the devs making AAA UE games.
