I imagine Rockstar only had him in the booth for like a day or two and couldn't afford to do multiple takes. He doesn't have a lot of dialogue altogether.

Michael Madsen also mispronounces "Tony Cipriani" during the letter he leaves Claude in "The Pick-Up". He pronounces it as "KIP-RI-ANI". Even though he pronounced it correctly in "Cipriani's Chauffeur" as "SIP-RI-ANI". It's a big reason why I think his LCS VA was way better.

You paid the VAs by the hour at this time, it was prohibitively expensive to do multiple takes. Additionally when they made Vice City they asked Burt Reynolds to do more takes and he almost attacked Dan Houser because of it. It's why he didn't reprise the role in LCS.

I think that was more of a joke + continuity. With both LCS and VCS Dan Houser was kind of obsessed with trying to make an elaborate mythology with these games. Which he kind of ditched with GTA4/5. Where it was kind of there but not as focused on.

It's something the fan community surrounding these games really loves and it's a big reason why you'll see far more people discussing things like the various gangs in the 3D era games compared to the HD ones.

Yeah I always loved the 3D universe. I did a chronological playthrough years ago, starting with VCS and ending with Manhunt 2 and Bully, as they're the furthest in the timeline.
