Because the game isn't about 1v1 matches. Ganondorf is plenty powerful in regular smash matches with items.

This one is pretty funny. They designed the game ever since brawl purely for casual play, making it worse with every single iteration. It plays so fucking bad, the movement and the kag and the precision of the engine and the parameters, the moment, everything is just bad if you were to take it seriously. Yet theres so many mentally ill retards that absolutely need nintendo to micro chabge balancing. Nigger, if nintendo really cares they would make this games feeling much more acfueate and satisfying, like Melee for wxample. Th3y specifically went away from that on purpose. It's because Ganondorf is good in FFAs (he's not) and this balances him being bad in 1v1s (it doesn't). You just don't get it. It's not like other games have viable heavy characters who are both fun to play and play against, it would be wrong for heavies to be good.

Honestly 2v2 is where it is at 1v1 is just garbage footsie whiff punishing and free for all is run away simiulator with opportunist potshots every now and then. 2v2 suddenly all of a characters moves become viable since you can cover for each others vulnerabilities grabs allow slow hard hitters like gannondorf to shine too I was super bummed to find they had removed that from casual online for ultimate to make way for epic MLG gamer mode.
