>boring!
..and ahistorical. Knights were mostly thugs and local strongmen who were elevated into low-tier nobility so they could serve as enforcers and protection collectors for local lords. If you’re playing a knight, you need to be a cussing farting oaf who shoves peasants and loots churches.

For an RTS for kids, it's really creative and ambitious. Having your leveled miners carry over from level to level was super cool, and there being so many different vehicles and buildings was great advertising for the brand and fun to mess around with.
However it's buggy as shit. Listing out all the well known bugs would actually be a multi-post effort, but the main things are
>Raiders will eventually just stop listening to you
>The game crashes all the fucking time
Thankfully, some dude remade the entire thing for free and added even more customization, a level editor, custom difficulty sliders for everything, and two extra campaigns: https://manicminers.baraklava.com/

I had the big explorien ship as a kid, that thing was GOATed albeit fragile. Still have all the pieces mixed in with the rest of my old legs in giant tubs.

I keep hoping that exploriens gets the same fanservice that classic space and blacktron got with the reimagined sets lego put out recently. We'll probably get an ice planet 2002 remake first, I guess.

I love me some legos, but some of these sets just don't make any sense to me. You can get a more detailed and higher quality transformer toy for far less, in all likelihood. Same with that gameboy lego set that just came out. Okay so you can pay 60 bucks for a scale lego replica of the original gameboy. But you can also probably just get a REAL original gameboy for that price off ebay or somewhere. And it can actually, you know, play games.

Lego has basically gone all-in on catering to nostalgic adults at the expense of kids. Which is very lucrative in the short term, because you get easy money from all the disney adults buying UCS Glub Shitto's Starship(TM) for 500 bucks a pop. But in the long term I see this leading to the downfall of the company. If you only cater to 90s kids who grew up with legos, you spurn the younger generations. Which might not matter now because little Jimmy in 2025 doesn't have any money for plastic bricks anyway, but in doing so, you're losing that customer in the future when he becomes a teen or adult. The well is going to dry up. Kids growing up today won't have any nostalgia for legos in the future. Eventually Lego will go the way of Lionel trains.

This, a great example is how there's one (1) zelda set, a 300 dollar replcia of the great deku tree. The actual build itself is meh, but there are plenty of nintyfags who are going and buying the $300 set solely for the link+zelda minifigs. People WANT smaller zelda-themed sets with the main characters in them. But Lego isn't stupid, and they know that by only providing the expensive sets, they're coercing these people into shelling out big bucks instead.

No they fucking haven't. Go and look at a 90's Lego catalogue and count how many pages there are. Then count how many pages the 2025 Lego catalogue has. then you said the complaints aren't valid because you can make your own sets (and it appears this was wrong)
and then you said that pointing out how expensive making your own set doesn't sound because the example given was of "special" bricks (a quarter of a cone)
and now complaints don't count because you cant be shown a recreation of OPs set even though that proves your point wrong. and no matter what you see you'll blame inflation anyway.

face it, you are a corpo dick sucker of the highest order. and you "don't care" but have spent over an hour fighting for them.

Cervantes literally lived by them and only wrote Don Quixote to pay the bills and because he was a miffed war veteran.
And even then he returned to the classical knight story.

It's all cyclical. Stories back then were oversaturated with straight hero stories, only for hot new subversions to come around until they too got stale and people yearned for unironic heroism again.

My mother was such a cunt when it came to Lego. I was like 6 and she said I could finally "graduate" from Duplo to actual Lego sets, but before getting my first one I had to pick a theme (City, Pirates, Space, etc.) and from then on I could ONLY get sets within that theme. She wouldn't buy me anything else. It was traumatizing to have picked City and then later wished I could've had cool stuff like Pirate ships if I'd only known about them sooner.

I got the Technic Supercar when I was... 8 or so. It took almost 5 hours to put it together. A few years later once I learned to pool all parts into piles, I could get it down to 2h 30m. It has around ~1300 parts (I forgot the exact count).

This Technic set made me learn more about cars than anything before or since. It has a 4 wheel drive AND 4 wheel suspension AND 4 wheel steering all at the same time, plus working differentials (that thing that allows inner and outer wheels to spin at different speeds for ex. when turning, it's a simple but complex problem with an equally simple solution), a working V8 motor, and a FUNCTIONING GEARBOX. No other Technic set ever came close to this.

Honorable mention to the 1992 Air Tech Claw Rig which also has steering, a functioning motor, differentials, and a working hydraulic system complete with a motorised compressor (the motor eats 6x AA batteries in a few hours).

>Rescue random nobles from imprisonment in foreign kingdoms by sneaking in and fighting 20 guards to the exit for nothing but the lulz and friendship
>Advocate for fair and noble politics such as not starving to death, and hanging embezzlers by the neck using their own intestines
>Put lords that are known to pillage random villages for the lulz in jail, then take whatever lands they are holding so once the ransom request its sent and you accept they have an even weaker army, then stomp then again until his family can't request bail because they have no money.
>Don't attack peasents or caravans (this is not really a question of morality, its just bad for business since then the town they are trying to visit can't charge tarifs and thus lowering the prosperity rating of the town which makes life shittier and thus can't collect as many taxes as you could if life didn't suck as much, but you can make a lot of good by simply not being a dipshit).
>Don't kill bandits. Be humane. Knock them unconscious, then charge their families bail.
>Ocassionally let go good lords that you like and have a similar mindset instead of taking them to jail, so once you the lord likes you can be convinced of joining your faction (with the right conditions of course).
