Then it got praised a lot for that design and other devs went "yeah, we can color code climbing surfaces too!"
And it just got dumber from there.

Yeah the characters are. You the reader get there in a couple panels and then there's monsters and killing and the whole nine yards.
Why build an interesting world and then give the player no interesting way to interact with it when that's not even what Nihei did with the manga?

He's a cyborg and possibly a synthetic human like the protag in Biomega. Which still counts as human since its not AI or silicon creature which are different at a material level. Not like humans are that homogenous anyway, you have slenderwoman from V1 and the dwarf fishers in addition all the other gene-manipulated messes.
My guess is that Killy was a glownigger of the human Netsphere government before the fully automated Authority and Safeguard were formally established.

Cibo was just horny for the netsphere really, Killy was the brute force she needed to get her there.
Sanakan had been buck broken by 1000 years of Cibo domination and she basically raped 0IQ loli bug cibo. I'd say Killy got omega-cucked in this scenario TLOU2 style but the resulting kid is exactly what he wanted. Mere mortals aren't capable of wanting something as badly as Killy wanted the NTG

Cibo lost all her personality after Killy kills the president. Not because of any in-canon reason, but Nihei simply forgot Cibo's cheeky opportunistic dick personality and just like he does with many characters he implants their personalities onto other characters like that USB stick that tried to steal Killy's body.
>she basically raped 0IQ loli bug cibo.
>basically
I don't follow metaphors. Same way I *SMACK* the shit out of Nihei when he sells me donuts like Sanakan & Cibo's DNA having anything to do with Seo's DNA that contains the net terminal gene.
It shows how everyone is a retard who doesn't care about restoring humanity cause lol fuck em, but also Nihei is a shit writer who doesn't know how to explain stuff beyond "Uhh acthualllyyy the administration isn't all that powerful and uhhh the administration is totally against Killy despite both being after the same thing and uhhh let's make Sanakan fight Killy for no good reason and uhhh let's make the administration go attack humans & mutated humans more than the actual piece of shit silicon life that totally aren't infected by the virus that triggered us to kill everyone with the net terminal gene.
Blame! is better off as an inspiration than a 1:1 copy, that's why I think Blame! Biomega!'s space tendril as long as our solar system and The Borg's Cube are excellent ideas for exotic xenomorph planets instead of a boring Zerg Hive creep colony bullshit any dullard like James Cameron can come up with.
When I read snippets and stuff I was originally under the impression Killy! was the one who started the virus and got all of humanity killed like a retard and was basically trying to get the net terminal gene for selfish reasons to control the netsphere himself.
Why the fuck does
>>723669813
final boss president #4 take Killy's form when he's trying to access the netsphere? like an evil Killy?
Why does Killy defend mutated humans that are 99% silicon and starts going trigger happy?

Davinelulinvega(F) takes on Seu's appearance since she's using his genes to fake out the system.

At the tail end of the manga he walks up a staircase that's 3,000 kilometers and then enters a room the size of Jupiter, 143,000 kilometers. The idea is the AI machine entity has probably converted most of the solar system to building material. I personally make the human distinction at that point with net terminal genes, because whatever Killy is would be the next evolutionary step rather than a homo sapien.

Blame! is a blur
Most people remember the architecture and BME
Some people remember the netsphere
Some people remember that bitching cool blacksuit
Some people remember the """""lesbian"""""" part just like they do in Signalis.
Some people remember how the ending potentially connects to chapter 1
Some people remember when Killy got his ass kicked by a bunch of humans which then got their asses kicked by a silicon child that was never seen again
And then there's people like me ... I don't always remember all chapters of Blame! but when I do ... I remember it for the nutritious delicious klondike bars and how Killy punched a machine in the face for a whole briefcase of it.
No sense in crying over spilled milk.

When I got fired and just quit kitchen jobs for good a year ago, I fell into the Blame! hole and play with the concepts a lot. I have a free idea for a game that is seemingly impossible in scope.
The world is a singular megastructure that should put MMO worlds to shame, a breathing world with factions of whatever kind possible in such a place. The world is on a server with a limited amount of players. Each player starts at a random point on at the outer layer, there ain't a whole lot around as to friendly NPCs and such, the player should seek exploration and survive the dangers, and eventually get information that leads them towards the center of the structure, as the outer layers are dangerous and generally not populated, and the further one is towards the middle, the closer one is to everything else there. And there's probably something interesting at the core.
Ideally, even with hundreds of players in a world, a player should be able to play through most if not all of the game without seeing another player. It should be so rare, if not sought out through a wide array of gameplay systems, that stumbling upon another person should give the player a gut drop sensation.
The world is such that any genre flys, but think Skyrim on fucking steroids in terms of mechanics and builds. Almost any biome is viable in the structure. A water reservoir at that scale is an ocean, a zoo an entire jungle, thermo regulators the hot place and so on and so forth. Finding a faction means finding civilization means finding jobs, building communities and fighting wars.
You get what I'm saying

Scorn is too fleshy and boney and it's a very watered down version of Giger and Beksinski. It tries to be both and fails at appealing to both. While it's true Giger took inspiration from Beksinski, Giger created his own style inspired by factories, industries, mechanical trains, bullets, needles, (which kinda deteriorated later in the 2000s starting with Species' designs)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWdRP_jGuig
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GXaVcgrZ4M
We had people last thread who went autistic over Halo & Half Life not being 100% brutalism architecture.
>>723679139
50% of it since Giger didn't invent Brutalism architecture(despite him himself being very interested in it) and the other 50% isn't just brutalism architecture, it's a few more things such as James Herbert's The City.
While Giger's original inspiration believe it or not is the operating table at a hospital since that's literally woman and machine fused temporarily and a baby being put on a conveyor belt and handled by a bunch of mask-wearing doctors and there's machinery and needles all over the place. That is Hans Ruedi Giger's 100% inspiration for his biomecha and the source of his nightmares. Being aware of yourself as a fetus and baby must be quite an experience.
>>723679762
I hated the ending because I wanted more Blame! but in hindsight it was a great ending compared to shit like Sidonia
There are some forgettable followup oneshots but basically everyone's just dealing with it. A lot easier now that Safeguards aren't constantly beaming in to fuck everyone up and the silicons are somehow on the run

That's actually not a bad idea, too bad right now it needs to be created by hand, and unless you price the game at $10000 per copy, that's too much content for one person. Maybe in the future when procedural generation gets better we will have this game.
Kinda reminds me of Starbound with thousands of big ass planets, but if you play multiplayer, you instantly know where other players are and can teleport to them. And the obvious downside is that one whole ass planet that is a size of 10x Large Worlds in Terraria can contain heaps of trash and there is nothing useful in it. So you arrive, and there is nothing to explore, not even ruins or landmarks.

Vacant long abandoned MMOs give you this feeling, especially multiplayer RPG games that barely support 8 players and their worlds are far too big for 8 players to be spread around all over the place.
But yeah I get what you're saying like Neverwinter Nights, Stalker, Fallout, Morrowind, Deus Ex, Ark: Survival, Alien Isolation

Idk. I'm gonna be honest
I get good Blame vibes from Bungie games. Marathon, Oni, Halo - all Blame inspired and do a good job. Peak Blame is probably Halo 2 arbiter levels
But to me megastructures are only like 1/3 of what makes Blame "Blame"
One of the bigger parts of it that everyone overlooks is Killy's gun
There's no way to make walking around a megastructure and not doing anything fun, but nobody who makes a game based around "megastructures" also makes it a game where you shoot the kinds of enemies Killy faces with a fuckoff pistol that causes massive damage to said megastructure whenever you fire it.
Everybody who makes a "megastructure" game focuses on the gay "vibes" of a megastructure without the actual BLAMMING

Silicon Life are still cyborgs at the end of the day, no matter how much their tech resembles the safeguard. Like the other anon said, they were borging human fetuses in those cloning pods and later on we see more like them skittering around with larger bodies. They probably get fed terabytes of knowledge and indoctrination that turns them into the psycho adults we see raiding human territories.

Killy's GBE being an insta kill for everything which also warps the environment, but Killy also being a glass cannon, and you can get fucked up really fast if you're not paying attention.

The truest representation of the story to game would be Death Stranding spanning large vistas for hours, maybe repairing pathways as you go, probably throw in platforming since you're not carrying cargo. And in between that core gameplay would probably end up being some Dark Souls type battles against the safeguard or roaming gangs. Killy's gravity gun consumes the users energy so there could be some mechanic where you have to place your shots well because you'll bleed yourself out missing shots. It probably would never work or be fun.

This thread, right here.
