Plants Vs Zombies DS
Anyone play this version of it? I didn't even know it existed and I was wondering if it played well, only came across it due to all this talk of that terrible replanted version.

Played the DSiware version, it didn't really have any of the side stuff but otherwise it was pretty good

I put 100 hours into this as a kid after playing the PC version at my cousin's and it is very faithful in terms of gameplay and has most of the extra modes and minigames like the zen garden and I, zombie. I even played the multiplayer where one person controls the zombies and it was alright. The only worse part is the super pixelated GBA style graphics but some people probably like that.

Pretty good version as far as i remember.
Some cool extra stuff, sprites are pretty neat (not just downscaled pngs), and the soundtrack is sorta different in it's own unique way.

Not sure if I'd rec over the PC or 360/PS3 version, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 besides some ost and visual differences afaik.

I played it on my DS flashcart, but don't remember anything specific about it. First PVZ version I played was the XBLA port I bought with some Microsoft points. Played it so much, I earned every achievement, had every plant in my garden, grew the tree thing 100ft etc. Fun times

can this be a general plants vs zombies thread

I'm playing the main story in Reflourished (using a phone emulator since I hate gaming on phones) and I'm shocked how good 2 in its old form was. there's lame "ok you don't HAVE to properly engage with the mechanics & learn, teehee" shit like using ingame currency to get artificially stronger (likely paid for with real-world money in the official phone version) but if you ignore it (maybe use gold you earn in levels to buy plant outfits and nothing more) and just engage with it as a normal problem solving game (where execution, multitasking & full map observance also matter since it's real time) it's really damn fun. the original form of it was treading this line where it's ALMOST going from good fun to cancer since the manipulative baby-pandering "up your avatar strength with money" options are there but you can disregard it and just have fun with a legit well made game

I'd say better than 1 too since it starts off more difficult & takes legacy skill into account. I'm constantly having to retry levels in the egypt world to complete em without using lawnmowers. difficulty-wise Gardenless (fanmade PC remake) is neat too since you can up it significantly

I like these as simple strategy games not grindfests or "collect em all" shit
