Processes became too streamlined, causing games to feel samey
>Everyone uses UE so the production costs are lower and pajeets can program faster but games are unoptomized because they don't actually understand how to make the engine work for the particular type of game
Similar to above, game mechanics are also reused so not only do games look the same because they use the same shitty engine and post-processing effects for MUH REALISM, they also play the same
>Unnecessary skill trees, parrying, crafting, holding down a button and watching a gauge fill up to confirm that you indeed pressed the button and then STILL SHOWING A DIALOGUE BOX TO CONFIRM YOUR INPUT, we used to get beatmups and GoW/DMC clones, now every ARPG is Soulslike
Games are too expensive to make, so developers are discouraged from deviating from what sells
>Destiny's entire budget was its marketing because that was the only way to brute-force a new IP of that scale into relevance; FFXV also had a whole multi-media plan and crossovers
AA is dead, has been replaced by slavjank and gookslop
>Atomic Heart, Elex, Black Myth Wukong, Deathloop, Lost Soul Aside

Technical aspects of games aren't emphasized or advertised anymore due to aforementioned streamlining of processes, lack of innovation and smaller marginal technological improvements, and general ease of use so users don't have to know how the tech works to use it
>Physics engines aren't toted around anymore, tech demos don't exist (this is also partly due to E3 dying), games aren't even finished at release, so there's no documentation of dev process or concept art to showcase, kills hype and game speculation in the hobby
Game studios are bought out and consolidated, remakes and remasters are outsourced to other companies, smaller projects aren't made by in-house B teams anymore
>Rare bought out by MS, immediately gets axed, Sonic Colors remaster was made by a chink company and looks worse than original, Mario Galaxy remasters look like shit, SH2 remake outsourced to Bloober Team
No distinct eras or console generations anymore
>GTA 5 and Skyrim went through 3 console generations, ports and remakes instead of new entries and IPs, no new gimmicks like sixaxis and waggle controls, early PS4 had some remnants of PS3 era before Sony killed a lot of their IPs
Mascot games are dead because games have to be le serious slowburn $60 for 60 hours of gameplay ""experience"" and Millennials ruin cartoon characters by inserting their fetishes
>Battletoads remake, Spyro Reignited Trilogy (also feels cheap because it was outsourced and rushed by the third game), Bubsy 4D

a sizeable portion of games released today exist solely as part of a money laundering operation.

I don't know, man. I honestly stopped caring around 2021 and haven't played anything new since (IIRC).
I joined freemasonry instead and it's a nice way to get busy and go out once a week. My younger brethren also have impeccable tastes in gaming.

Even if the dates in this AI graph made sense and started from the mid seventies, the trajectory would still be all wrong. Everyone knows gaming peaked in the late 90s and early 2000s, people try and forget about the absolute mountain of slop that released for the 8-bit and 16-bit consoles and computers, there's only a few games on those systems actually worth playing.

Also the title "Good video games released over time" implies that with every year, you're including the previous years in your statistics. Therefore, and I can't remember the exact mathematical term for it, but the graph should start at the bottom left, go up and right and slowly flatten out.
Thanks for reading my blog.

What caused this phenomenon is you telling ai to generate a shitty, sloppy graph for you that confirmed your prior belief.
It is funny that according to ai, 1950 came prior to 1900, but that it was so good we decided to repeat 1900 and 1950 in reverse order after 1970, and then 1900 again just for good measure. I can understand that one with such an increasingly brain-damaged perception of time could find decreasing joy in video games.

IP law being pushed more and more by the WIPO, which encourages rampant and out of control consolidation well beyond the point where the company would collapse under the weight of its own administrative inefficiency, and even if it does collapse, they sell off their IP to cover the bankruptcy anyway, so it never gets released back into the public domain where it belongs.
>>723643465
This is only possible because IP has been turned into long-lasting capital by government licenses. The normal state of publishing is very similar to the state of scanlation, where it's just a bunch of rapid maniacs fighting for scraps and rep.
>>723643963
Gaming went downhill really fast after the DMCA and equivalent WIPO legislation.
