This fad needs to die.
Is there really any good reason to make the player put their weapon away to get the fastest sprint speed besides muh realism? At the very least there should be a button to immediately pull out your secondary weapon instead of having to watch your character slowly pull out their first weapon and then have to switch to the secondary.

Yes. FPS games were far better when they weren't designed for controllers, by forcing people to barely move in order to have the ability to shoot accurately. The only reason guns in "modern" FPS are basically melee weapons without ADS is console cope, a reason to make people stop moving so the opponent has a chance to adjust his steering stick to actually hit a target. Nobody has ever felt a need for such a feature when playing with a mouse, because if you do that you're not handicapped by a garbage input device and can hit targets in motion.

I'd say it depends on the game, some arcade games really don't need to put away the weapon when sprinting, it's just there because it's standard.
And the same goes to other shooters, they have it but it's such a non feature, there is barely any penalty or time to wait, I'd rather have the duration to get ready be a lot longer and have the aim all messed up for a second before properly align. Make sprinting a well intended choice and not the standard mode of movement, make the standard mode of movement actually make sense.
It's the same as hipfire. It's useless most of the time and there isn't even much reason why, it just is because other games did it.
Another feature is suppressing fire, any game that still does it does such a rubbish job of implementing, barely any point to it.

I haven't played this game but if everyone was full sprinting and pre-firing around corners you would hate that too.
