I noticed when playing TF2 that it would really tax the shit out of my GPU and make the fans spin up, despite being almost 20 fucking years old. Then I enabled fps display and saw it was rendering like 800fps. Thankfully TF2 has a built in FPS cap function.

They're the worst thing about playing old PC games from the MIDI era. If I emulate an SNES game the soundtrack is exactly like how I remember it, or at least close enough. PC games always sound wrong on the default windows MIDI. And soundfonts are a shitty substitute that sound nothing like real hardware.
Your best hope is to find MP3 versions of soundtracks, either remakes or recorded by someone with real hardware. But this will never happen for more obscure games and mods
