I knew someone who worked at SEGA at the time and I was told that the reason for said partnership was that the games were not in a good spot and with the Game Grumps being a large channel at the time having them be part of the marketing for said games would translate into sells. The idea was to make it ironic to buy Sonic games. It did not work as the San Francisco offices had to be closed. This. There will be no Sonic Adventure 3. Sonic Heroes was the closest that'll ever come to making that happen for me. Sonic Generations was nice enough as a blast from the past and Sonic Forces scratches an itch but ultimately Sonic is just the same formula over and over. The characters "don't grow with you". I grow up and see them stay stagnant and set for the target demographic and that, essentially, part of the reason why I keep Sonic in my mind is because I masturbate to the characters. I'm middle aged. It was never acceptable but man that kind of thing really stops being cool with when stop and just reflect. Drop things and then move on.

Videogames were always better when played with friends or siblings anyway. What do you look like sitting up playing a Sonic game by yourself? What does that accomplish? Really starting to doubt this hobby as a single player has anything beyond reflex/coordination training to offer. Who cares about the "world' another person creates? It'll just be a reflection/homage/love letter to the things that person likes which are mirrors/reflections of other works of the World. But I digress. Sonic doesn't grow.
