It's bad but sold well just like the last pokemon game, and the one before it, and the one before that, and the one before that too. The game after this will be even shitter but people will still buy it and will "have fun despite the flaws" (lie).

Personally I would rate the recent Pokemon games:

1. Z-A
2. Arceus
3. Sword and Shield
4. Scarlet and Violet
5. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

And Scarlet and Violet would be higher than Arceus if not for how badly it runs and how ugly it looks. It is genuinely unacceptable.

All Switch games are using the Sun and Moon engine, that's why they look so bad in big 3D environments and run really bad too.
For Gen10 they are making a brand new engine for the games. We should see a really big jump in quality, this is why I also think LegendsZA is so short, they just wanted to pump one last pokemon game before they can the engine for good.

I always thought Iono's giant ass jacket was ugly. It should have been more like this.

S/V was very underwhelming overall, though I did appreciate how piss easy it was to shiny hunt and hyper train 'mons. Z-A looks like irredeemably boring shit, with its only saving grace being memes and porn as is the usual with the more modern pokemon games.
Much like MK:World and Bananza, the hype will die down after just a few weeks as more and more people realize just how increasingly dogshit these games have been as of late and all the hype's coming from only the most brainwashed of tendies (which includes the japanese audience as well).

These games are all bad. ZA has an interesting battle system but the world sucks. Arceus and SV both have none of the polish or user experience to be called a pokemon game. Sw/Sh are somewhat boring but actual pokemon games. BDSP are literally uglier, worse versions of the original games.

I loved Legends Arceus, but disliked Scarlet/Violet (even when it didn't run like shit). I think I got the final gym and dropped it, which says a lot when I'm normally a completionist autist
I haven't upgraded to Switch 2, so I'm holding off on Legends Z-A
Alternatively, I'm considering a Steam Deck and playing other things while waiting for emulation to get better
