One hour in and finding it pretty boring

It has super boring gameplay. The entire thing was its gimic of having everything narrated

The combat was serviceable. The drip-feed of new weapons and upgrades meant it never got dull. The bow and carbine were especially fun to use, both being charge weapons. I recall Transistor having the better gameplay of the two, though, despite it having more of an ATB strategy tilt than Bastion's typical hack n slash shit.
Veering slightly off-topic, I'm a little upset with the direction Supergiant has gone in recently. Hades was fine. Not GOTY material, just alright. But I don't like that, out of their entire repertoire of story-focused games, they chose to make a sequel out of the one roguelike. It looks like they're doomed to chase whatever'll make them the most money from hereon out, especially since they've drastically upsized since Hades. The future doesn't look bright for Supergiant.

Yeah, I used to buy every Supergiant game but Hades 2 is the first I've skipped. Sure, its understandable why Hades would get the cash-grab sequel but I held Supergiant Games in high regard as artists willing to make bold decisions to create unique experiences that are also just good games. I could accept their "woke" aspects because they've always been woke since Day 1 but woke back then, when Bastion came out, was a different thing, a more reasonable thing; nowadays, they've embraced the Ugly is Good and Beauty is Bad type of woke that completely contradicts the beauty in Transistor and have, in turn, become just like everyone else.

As one of the dozen people that actually purchased and enjoyed Pyre, I would have preferred a sequel to that where they could have another go at the concept and smooth it out and even expand on the parts that Pyre was lacking in. However, the Supergiant that took risks has sold out to chase trends and I wouldn't be surprised if they do a Hades 3 to try and capture that lightning in a bottle again. It's a sad state of affairs.

It's exceedingly overhyped. Maybe I had to be there at the time or something but I found the black dude who narrates everything to be over-the-top cringefest of trying-too-hard witty banter.

The studio itself has not put out one good game. Transistor is the same way. Then there's some sportsball game, and the two Hades games which could have been good but they have to go and Tumblr the designs of Greek Gods.

Hades 2 is the first Supergiant game I skipped as well, mainly because I liked Hades but felt stuffed with it and didn't really feel like getting a sequel.
With that said, your post absolutely baffles me.
Supergiant have been woke since, at the very least, Transistor. That game literally has non-binaries in it. And it released in 2015. This was back when it was so ahead of the time in terms of wokeness that the /v/ discourse about the wokeness was way more subdued than it would have been if it happened now.
Great game, though. And I do prefer it over Bastion.

sure you can have your opinion on the game but if you can't understand the hype for this game back when the indie scene was barely a thing you're simply too young

I was there at the time and I didn't get the hype either. Gameplay was nothing and the narration did feel pretentious. I particularly remember TB gushing over the game and I couldn't see it at all

indie games at the game were retro styled. this was the first game from an independent studio that had really detailed art, great voice acting, and music for many who just got into PC gaming. it really helped that this game was constantly on sale for $4.99. I LIKE TRANSISTOR! Here's 5 bucks! I need exact change only! Here's 50 bucks! what about of exact change don't you understand? FUCK YOU GUY! I am going to call the cops on your ass! *punches you in the face*

you don't understand. people can stomach lgbt+ and whatever diversity stuff it ends when making stuff ugly is wicked. instinctively humans reject it except for the wicked kind.

humans who idolize beauty might be bad and do awful stuff sometimes, but humans who idolize ugliness will pretty much in all circumstance have a sick nature to them that's dangerous to normal humans.

There are more enemy types but honestly if the whole game was just those three you're probably thinking of the game probably would have been better because some of the later enemies are just really annoying gimmicks.

It was great as a kid growing up on the 7th gen since having a nice 25$ experience with good music, nice, art, an interesting story, and passable gameplay.

well good news, at least you're almost done with the game. And yes its shit, Supergiant is shall we say not known for their gameplay.

I truly don't understand the hype for them, at least before Hades brought all the normalfags along. Sure they have good music and nice visuals but what little gameplay they have is truly abysmal every time.

To most people especially back then standards the gameplay is a 7/10, passable but mostly a vehicle for the 10/10 art and music.
Despite its glaring issues /v/ is kind of a crucible for higher standards of gameplay than the average player by sheer autistic circlejerk if nothing else.

Yeah it's trash. Bought it when first came out and tried to play it multiple times. It's not even a long game I've been told. Total snorecore
Anonymous No.723699458 [Report]
it's not trash. it's okay if you don't like the game, but saying it's a bad is farfetched. Even a game like Lost Kingdoms wouldn't be considered bad :)

that makes sense, i played some of it back in 2012 (the same year I stated posting here) and remember liking it well enough, but not enough to finish it. >it always felt like a chore to play
That was pretty much my experience. I played Transistor a couple years back and very shortly afterwards played through Return of the Obra Dinn. When I was playing transistor, I completed it over the course of like 2 weeks, and I dont think I ever played more than 45 minutes in a session. On the other hand I completed obra dinn in a single day, only taking breaks to go to the grocery store and the gym. They're both about the same length (transistor is shorter even) and by all rights obra dinn should be far more mentally taxing as to require a break. Transistor was just that dull
Anonymous No.723701146 [Report]
the issue with Transistor is that it's not really fun until the second playthrough where you have a lot more combinations available.

It was definitely a game about enjoying the art, the narration and the music. Gameplay was very basic.
>Transistor
I will always resent this game because it screams of wasted potential. Like they had an idea for a plot, an idea for the gameplay, but they failed to put it all together into a real game, so instead it all feels disjointed. characters are introduced and killed without any sense of importance because we never get to know them. All we have going is some cutscenes without context and the protagonists telling each other how important these people were. The final fight had a really cool introduction, but it's in service of a bad guy that we barely know anything about. Seriously feels like they came up with that idea on how to start the encounter before the encounter proper, or who would it even be saying that intro.
It has all the ingredients of a real game but it was never realized.

Yes. It's lazy and dishonest to have the exact same blobs of living cum and genie looking hammer dudes (complete with attack animations and movement) in a completely different setting, simple as.

I played Transistor in one sitting when I was home sick with strep throat. I tried to play it as long as I could with real time combat like Bastion but when I got to the highrise boss I couldn't possibly do enough damage to deal with its mechanics. When I started using its VATS-like system it became incredibly easy. Boy that ending is bleak, though.

It's one of the greatest endings in any video game ever. A lot of truly great games don't have satisfying endings.

Wasn't most of the background stuff in the readable files on the transistor, and unlocking new upgrades also decrypted more lore on those files, both story characters and enemies? If you just played through the game you missed a lot of things.
