it would have to warp reality around it just to exist
Gravity aside the speed of light would still not be fast enough to relay thoughts into actions across its entire form, it wouldn't be able to eat anything even remotely close to its caloric needs. Its a living fractal, infinitely repeating its general form up and down in size forever. Nothing about it makes any sense from any conventional angle.

Despite the Visitor being so outside the realm of reality, it still makes Sam's good ending something completely nonsensical. Because in all the non-good endings, the most horrific beings come to dominate Earth, which suggests that if it wasn't for the very specific example of Sam, everything would have went to shit.

I wish there was a point to Sybyl, like her being a "good" anomaly outcome like Sam.

That tends to be how protagonists work. The best ending is you getting everything right and then choosing to reject temptation and thus stay sane then putting as much right as you can. The second best ending is you sitting on a couch for 15 days locked in your room doing literally nothing. Every other ending where you try to do something and fail it fucks shit up worse than if you did nothing.
And it only understands human consciousness in the moment it puts sam back together, even after communicating with the Exalted Four its still not sapient by our standards yet.
And Sybil was anomalous since the Visitor deliberately yoinks her out of her apartment in every ending that thinks its worth mentioning.

You're right but Sam still feels exceptional given the circumstances. Because he actually solves all the problems and saves everyone - by killing approximately 2 billion mutants. Like to think that only 2 billion looked outside is kinda ridiculous - it would have infected most everyone in 15 days.

I think what it is that feels so strange about the game is that the good ending feels very good and it's totally unambiguous about it - Sam fixes everything. Most games the "good" ending is "great job you survived".

In Sybil's case, I think that actually WAS what was supposed to happen with her - she seemingly turned into all the meat sludge you find throughout the apartments later, as though it tried and failed to make her into a living fractal like it does to Sam in the Perfect Ritual ending. She was most likely 'chosen' in a similar manner but without the ritual as a buffer, it just outright melted her.

>by killing approximately 2 billion mutants.
Mutants aren't killed. Its not even stated if he kills the absolutely insane ones or tries to just hold them until they fix themselves. The 25% of the world pop was the total world pop and was from the event in totality, not just sam.
>Like to think that only 2 billion looked outside is kinda ridiculous
Eh, i'm iffy on it. Putting aside the prior point, if you luck into an overcast day and then hear some severe weather report plus internet talk saying some weird shit is going down you'll probably keep your head inside. People could record other Cursed. And not all cursed died nor count as effectively dead through insanity/evil, plenty will continue to be citizens as seen from the ending montage. Plenty of the casualty count comes from regular people who died as a result of the social breakdown/cursed, shit like hellcar eating people.
>Sam fixes everything
>You didn't do everything but you were a big help
Part of the game's themes is taking the risk of extending compassion even in the direst circumstances, of always trying to connect with others even if its hard, though not checking too deep for the skeletons in the closet; it makes sense it'd have its good ending actually reward that.

Nah, it just distorts whatever digital code or some shit too. Anybody who tried to post an image of the sky just ended up with static but they could walk around with any kind of physical rendition of it to fuck up people with later which is one of the deaths if you develop your own photo and look at it. Its why you had to get all the specific forms of media that you did instead of just sticking a digital camera on a stick.

Technically yes but its still "extending an antenna from a node" so we are still getting just a smaller part of a much larger (theoretically infinite) whole.

[Aster:] It didn't see US because we didn't see IT.
Where is the Visitor now?
[Aster:] It's passing through. [Jasper:] It extended an antenna to prod us.
[Aurelius:] The antenna connects to a node somewhere on the outer edge of the Oort cloud.

Or would they be just as perverted because obviously any lifeform that would become advanced enough to become an interactable sentient species dominating over its planetary milieu would be obsessed with the proliferation of itself, since that was the key to its success among other things to begin with, its undying drive to coom and reproduce?

not that much, we want to fuck everything because it feels really good and we're always trying to find something that feels even better, the logical final step would be to chip your brain and have a non-stop orgasm until you die, either from shock, or dehydration or starvation
the other extreme would be to cut your sex drive and reproduce artificially, so we're in the middle of the road

If that was how it worked then looking at images of it wouldn't cause mutations but it does. You need to perceive it for it to perceive you. I headcanon as its own default perception/communication works by deliberately shunting its consciousness into different parts of itself as the only way for its gigantic body to actually function, the majority of it is braindead half the time and practically a foreign body but by observing that bit with another bit it projects its physics breaking might into the viewing bit so it can function properly. But trying to shunt even the smallest fraction of an infinite being who casually warps reality into the form of a jumped up ape completely fucks them up. You get the tiniest glance at infinity and lose yourself amongst the furniture in its infinite possibilities of your existence
Picrel is a demonstration that its you observing it that's important.

If this was true walking outside, looking at the floor, avoiding looking up would be safe. Animals would all be safe because they lack the sapience necessary to fathom they're looking at something. Plants would be safe but the plant in your room changes as it sits by the window. Na I think anything at all that's organic that's perceived by the observer gets changed.
